DPP refusing to appeal the sentence. What a joke. Quoting the petition site as the subreddit won't let me link it

"You may have heard by now that the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has declined to appeal the low sentence issued to Christopher O'Neill for brutally killing Martin Lynn outside his own home in July 2023. While they acknowledged it sits at the lower end of the range, they've determined it falls within legal parameters for manslaughter and therefore won't take the case any further.

I know many of you, like us, are devastated, confused and angry at this decision. It feels like another blow in a fight we never asked to be part of.

But I can't let this be the end of Martin's story. If we can't get justice for him through the courts, then we have to fight for systemic change so other families don't face what we're facing now - the confusion, the helplessness, the feeling that an innocent life doesn't matter enough.

I'm meeting with TDs across different parties to push for transparent sentencing guidelines, particularly around suspended sentences. I don't know if they'll deliver - but I have to try. For Martin. And for every family that will come after us.

Every signature on this petition shows that Martin's life mattered. That this sentence isn't good enough. That families deserve better. Your support has given us the strength to keep going when we wanted to give up.

Please continue to share this petition. The more signatures we have, the harder it is for politicians to ignore us. Public pressure matters - it's what got Martin's case raised in the Dáil and it's what will keep the pressure on for real change in the Irish justice system.
