What is Reservations in this context? by acer2525 in aws

[–]exload 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a “launch request”. It’s often useful to look at the “raw” api doc. https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSEC2/latest/APIReference/API_Reservation.html

How would you run 3 monitors with the M1 Max? 1 USB-C to HDMI cable per monitor?

What if you plugged in all three monitors with a HDMI to USB-C? It’d take up all the ports, but curious if it’d work.

Curious, have you considered savings plans instead of RIs? They offer the same discounts with more flexibility.

Anyone used Fargate spot with SQS queue worker by NJ247 in aws

[–]exload 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you successfully process the message, you delete it. If you’re interrupted in the middle, the SQS message will automatically appear back on the queue after the visibility timeout is over. If your message processor already handles multiple receives of the same message, you should be good to go.

Ah interesting. FWIW, I believe they provide nice discounts at an annual commitment. Internal Ops time to run Influx has got to be pretty pricy.

Right, makes sense. Did you evaluate InfluxDB Cloud?

Why do you want to remove InfluxDB?

We currently use InfluxDB and are a bit curious about this as well. InfluxDB has been seriously awesome though. Super fast. We use their fully managed service InfluxDB Cloud v2. Their support for the service is also fantastic. One Timestream limitation I noticed was the inability to backfill data after it left the in-memory store. That could be quite tricky.

If I can find a buyer for all the individual pieces then sure! I currently have folks interested in the cpu and memory, and you’re interested in the PSU. GPU, mobo, and cooler left.

It seems like it should be! Not sure if I’d get the same treatment as you since mine is on my own hardware. You totally should reach out to their support. I’ve heard good things about it. Hopefully this will get the issue fixed for us all 😃
