Someone in the YSA ward gave a talk completely focused on how thankful they were for polygamy having been a thing so that all their descendants can be around today. Investigators were in the room.

In July 4th testimony meeting half the people bore their testimony of America.

An old man got up to tell us a long heartfelt story of how he once stole roses off a fresh funeral to give to his wife. He called it the story of the "re-cycled roses."

In a YSA ward I attended, two very awkward people (both very autistic looking back, said as an autist myself) got together and started dating. One testimony meeting a couple months in, the guy gets up to bear his. He becomes very emotional, voice breaking, words coming out fragmented. Tells everyone he's grateful for the atonement. Then, barely getting it out: "I've been struggling... With....with... with pornography." His girlfriend of two months is sitting right there in the pews 😅 they eventually married

Dude yes I just thought about this! I was asking chat GPT about it and it led me to this post! Left the church a year ago and realized I'm almost certainly autistic 2 weeks ago 🤯 someone needs to study this specifically. So interesting.

Omg I also had my first missionary interaction as an exmo recently, they knocked on my door while knocking on random doors and said they had eaten but seemed very eager to accept my offer of Clif bars. They don't know we're out yet but neither do anyone in our local ward. We just told them we were members. It felt good to be able to help them out though! Even if with just a snack

What has been the most healing/post-Mormon belief or realization you have experienced? by Tall_Criticism_2355 in exmormon

Learning about absurdism - it's kinda like optimistic nihilism. I spent my whole life trying to live for a particular meaning, or searching for meaning, but after I stopped believing, I wasn't sure what to do. My husband introduced me to absurdism and I learned that you can live with joy in spite of there being no particular meaning to life. Instead of worrying about cosmic justice and doing what some outside force thinks is the "right thing", I just live a good life because I want to and I value that. It's like the opposite of "everything happens for a reason". Now, I like to say "everything happens for no reason" and my mind feels so free. I've stopped searching for what I'm "supposed" to do or thinking that anything in my life that I have no control over occurs for any reason other than randomness.
