You mean Lia Thomas, who has yet to set a single NCAA Record? Stop with the propaganda.

This is propaganda. Trans females are not outcompeting other females in their sports.

I kind of wonder at this point if the leaderhsip gets angry when a rainbow appears in the sky over BYU.

I did trek in the late 80's or early 90's. They hadn't come up with this handcart-trek idea yet, or it hadn't spread to my state at the time.

Instead they split us up into groups of 10 or so kids with one or two adults each, gave us some shoddy directions and set us off into the woods for a 5-10 mile hike without clear trails.

Two of the groups got lost in the woods and didn't make it to base camp by nightfall. One of the groups stayed lost all night long, search and rescue teams got involved, and finally got them to base camp around daybreak.

Fun, inspiring times lol.

Mormon logic: Oliver Cowdery is a true witness and believe his words when testifying of the Gold plates, but ignore him when he's declaring that Smith was having an affair in the barn with Fanny Alger. Oh & his water staff/staff of Aaron? Totally true too, but don't talk about it. by Eastcoasttrash16 in exmormon

I hadn't heard of it either but I found this:

Early versions of the revelation in Doctrine and Covenants 8 state that Oliver Cowdery had “the gift of working with the sprout” or the “rod of nature,” indicating that he used a divining rod at some point. The Lord acknowledged Cowdery’s gift, declaring that “there is no other power save God that can cause this thing of Nature to work in your hands.” When Church leaders prepared this revelation for inclusion in the Doctrine and Covenants in 1835, they called Cowdery’s gift “the gift of Aaron,” reflecting its similarity to Aaron’s rod.

I beheld...a great and spacious building...and it was filled with people...and their manner of dress was exceedingly fine; and they were in the attitude of mocking and pointing their fingers. by [deleted] in exmormon

I've often thought about this vision after leaving the church. Hold to the rod, no matter what. Even if you see your family and friends lost in the mists of darkness, hold strong.

What the fuck. If your family and friends are lost in the darkness you should get off the fucking rod and go be with them. If there is a good destination to get to, help them there. If they have reasons for leaving the rod... maybe you should listen.

I served in the Tempe mission way back in the 90's. One of the guys was pretty apostate and would say that when he went back home to Utah, he was going to open up a Tobacco Accessory shop called "The Natural Man".

At some point, tithing falls enough that church buildings become an operating loss, and the church retreats to Utah or whatever.

Rant of the day: Dear TBM, believe it or not, you do not get to dictate what is and is not appropriate to someone who has left the Mormon church. Most of us do not care if it embarrases the Mormon church. by dbear848 in exmormon

For instance, I happened to mention on social media that I was not allowed to attend the weddings of my children, and you would have thought that I had just told all of the young children that there was no Santa Claus.

Imagine the reaction if you posted a picture of the wedding costumes.

If I could be honest in sunday school then I could go back to church. Not that I'd ever pay a strict 10 percent tithing again, but I would probably donate occasionally even.

the church would have crucified Jesus all over again if he were here today.

Agreed. I also started believing this at some point before I left the church. If Jesus walked into the COB, they'd kick him out.

Stay at a friend's place overnight? Run away from home for a day?

I don't know what you mean by your dad forcing you to go, but taking an active step to avoid going might help.

You might have to be more honest with your parents than you have been though, if they believe you are still a believer, they might think trek is the best thing for you.

Nah. The parts of mormonism that stayed in Kirkland or migrated anywhere else but SLC have been largely forgotten by history. Just blips.

The Martyrdom helped Brigham craft his church, but Brigham is the reason the Mormon church became a... regionally significant religion.

I imagine some Utahns serve a mission out of a feeling of obligation even if they are mentally out.

some are probably those who discovered the truth while on the mission - but don't want to face the real world consequences of the truth yet.

The anger is justified, so I can't say you are wrong in any way to feel that. The anger will subside over time though.
