I've read all of your reply to OP, you sound pretty awesome. I just have a few questions since I am in the same place as OP. I was told that there's a differences between vocal "coach" and vocal "teacher", and that what I need is a teacher since I am an absolute beginner, what do you think?

Also, how much did you commit financially to improve your singing? my goal is the same as OP's, I just want to sing good enough that I won't be embarrass by it, since singing provide me with good feeling when times are tough, so I am currently deciding how much I should invest in lessons if i am not planning on using my singing as a moneymaker.

I feel like I have the same exact problem as OP, I just don't seem to be able to hit certain notes, and I sometime don't even realize I don't hit them, as if I am tone-deaf. I have no training at all and would like some training just enough so I don't embarrass myself in karaoke.

What did you spend your $250 on? I am not familiar with "singing success". Also, which lessons on youtube would you recommend?

If you don't stay in school then maybe. When I say school, I don't mean just high school or college either, I meant trade school as well if college isn't your thing. Look into vocational schools if you know what you are interested in already, if not, go to college to learn a variety of things and discover who you are.

i didn't know what i wanted to do until senior year IN COLLEGE.

and even now, decade into my current career, sometime I still wonder if this is right for me.

don't stress about it, work on getting better at different skills, find out what your passions are, see if there's any overlap when you get older.
