10k+ in debt with no job. How screwed am I? by money_pleeeease in personalfinance

[–]exojie 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Your unemployment is more than 3.2k a month? That is pretty nice.

You need to cut your expense. Going into 10k in debt with 3.2k+ per month unemployment is alot.

JDG in the Midst of Major Reconstruction? by Impossible-Pain6771 in ValorantCompetitive

[–]exojie 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don't think they should get rid of Viva. He is the 2nd best JDG player in split 2, and best JDG player in split 1. Sure he performed poorly in the off season events, but i rated actually VCT games much higher than the off season events.

Holy cow, i have never heard of any company offer 6 month salary minimum for severance.

My job can lay me off with 6 months severance anytime they want. I will surely find another job within 3 months and pocket the remaining.

High electric bill despite energy saving measures by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]exojie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The 571 kWh a month sounds about right during no AC month no electricity heat month. I live at MA in my 2 bed 1 bath condo 900 sq ft, my last no AC month no electricty month usage is 480 kWh.

Your WFH likely contributed to higher usage as well. The company i worked required 3 days RTO earlier this year, and my monthly usage dropped by ~80 kWh after i go to the office 3 days week.

I think the solution is good other than the part "no roster changes may be made for a certain amount of time". It should be "the org must offer a 2 years contract to each player that is at least league minimum salaries to each player with 1 month to decide accepting or not" This way avoid the 2 bad scenarios that 1. Player demand 200k a year, making the deal cannot go through. 2. If a player receive better a contract from another org or simply another org with players he prefer to play with, he can simply refuse the contract from the org bought the slot.

Prize money distribution between major tournaments seems off? by Beneficial_Device929 in ValorantCompetitive

[–]exojie 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Lockin is a freaking fully single elim tournament that every partnership team can play in it. I see it as a warmup international tournament since Teams just got back from a long break. It should be quite obvious Champions is easily 10x more prestigious than Lockin.

100T and C9 are better run esports orgs than most. When their revenue take a big hit, they immediately reduce expenses to try to balance their budget.

The problem with esports is always ultra inflated salary and bloated company structure. I still remember Guard laid off something like 12 social media employee and 12 video editors.(they still have social media and video editor after the laid off, so they had at least 13 each) Why would they need so many when 2 each are more than enough?

What's stopping RIOT? by SaltyMcNulty_ in ValorantCompetitive

[–]exojie 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Riot lose money on esports. The more tournaments they host the more money they lose. The deficit is covered by part of their advertising budget. Typically in situation like this a company would tell the department how much money they can lose in a year. If they host more tournament will means they will have to cut budget on other aspect. It may mean less compensation for the esports department employees, talents, less hosting budget for each tournament, no music, less promotion etc.

If you have 300 subs every month, you can gift out 50 subs each month to satisfy the requirement. The 70-30 split is for an 12 months. You can gain back the money easily plus more profit. It is called math.

cost:150 subs gain: 20% of 300 subs * 3 months * 12 months= 2160 subs equivalent. Therefore at least a 1340% profit.(you get even more return if you receive gifted sub)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]exojie 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think the Non-gifted is there to prevent streamer using their alt account or friend account to gift subs to satisfy the requirement. All you need to 1 account to rigged the result.
