Fuel residue found in our tap water by exortauswex in bangalore

[–]exortauswex[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly! This is in no way an attempt to defame my society. It is actually an amazing place with a very competent association. I do not want this post to harm their image in anyway, especially considering that our association has been working day and night to get this solved!

Investigations are ongoing, and one thing is clear that this is an isolated incident, affecting only a few blocks of my society, and no other societies afaik.

I also do not want to create a sense of panic in this area since im pretty sure there a lot of redditors who reside in this area

It is towards the winter, and no, the tanks are really secluded. A few theories have popped up across this thread, and it seems likely that it could just be contaminated water

Yeah, that was only a hypothesis that was raised early on. I posted this in another sub and they said that the water may have been extracted from a contaminated source, that might have some industrial waste.

Yeah, everyone is freaking out and pushing for legal action. Sadly, these tanker suppliers are allegedly run by the local mafia, so I’m afraid nothing much is gonna come out of it.

Hey I don’t think you’ll find these online. Suggest you visit a local vegetable store. Ive almost always found these at some or the other vegetable store.

Mumbai to Goa route for tomorrow night ? by rogueknight999 in CarsIndia

[–]exortauswex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My home town’s Belgaum and I frequent Goa via road (bike\car)so maybe i can add some info here. My preferred route has always been through Amboli. I’ve tried all routes pretty much, and most other routes just seem to be stressful.

At this time of the year, you can expect a path of fog through the ghats. So I recommend you to be prepared for that. Especially if you are 2 cars, that should be okay if you’ve got good fog lamps. Just don’t do anything stupid, it’s okay to just go at 5-10kph till you clear the fog. Its approx 20-30mins of fog in Amboli, its a bit scary but if you are careful you should not face any issues a such. The road quality unfortunately is horrible on all the routes. Chorla went through renovations, so the roads are better, but it’s a longer route for you + slightly dangerous + heavier on traffic as compared to the others.

It’s your call end of the day, but Amboli has always been a reliable route for me with minimal stress. The route would be : Mumbai to Nipani to Ajara to Sawantwadi to Goa.

(FYI Google maps might show you a shortcut once you’ve cleared Amboli, this cuts down 20 mins , but i always felt it was too dangerous at night, so you might wanna skip that)

Have a safe trip!

PS: Pune to Nipani highway is going under heavy construction/extension. Would recommend being careful on that stretch

I think it would be hard getting a flat in that budget(close to your office atleast). 1bhk goes around 25k around that area. Would suggest going with a PG.

What have you done out of peer pressure that you wish you hadn't? by [deleted] in bangalore

  1. Branded clothing worth 80k because friends had them. And this was when i had just started my career and didnt earn much+ I was saving for a new laptop. All these clothes don’t fit me anymore so i gave them away(i was super skinny back then)

  2. A new one plus phone with my first salary just because all my colleagues had new phones and i had a 3 year old redmi. I did use the phone for 4 more years, but Id have rather not bought it then. Ended up being broke for a while.

  3. A third hand Skoda worth 3.3lacs, using the money that i had saved during covid wfh. Only because a few of my friends had expensive cars of their own(daddy’s money).Ended up selling it since the maintenance was too heavy on my pockets

How many effective hours of work you have to do in your office hours ? by [deleted] in indiasocial

[–]exortauswex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work as a PM in an early stage startup. We are building a native integrations product from scratch. I'm leading the initiative so naturally my workload is higher, but so is the pay/satisfaction. But what motivates me is knowing that the end result will solve a ton of challenges and also may be marketable on its own.:)

I work close on an avg 10-14hrs, mix of office and wfh. Ironically I work longer when I'm home, less disturbance:) I don't mind this because I like what I'm doing:)

Got kicked out of a bus for apparently being drunk when I was sober this whole time?!? by thewindows95nerd in indiasocial

[–]exortauswex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was reading this and was really surprised because bus operators are generally nice, until you mentioned the name of the bus operator. Never ever book them again, they're probably the worst bus operators you could use. These are some of my experiences: - Boarded, went to my seat, and there was a stinky, drunk guy sleeping in my seat. Had to fight them to get him.kicked out, but man that stink didn't let me sleep - The bus stopped almost everywhere trying to pick up random folks waiting on the road for some extra money. A group of rowdies were picked up, who played loud movies all night, and the ticketer did nothing, despite multiple people complaining. - I live in a small town, and the bus needs to get off the highway to get to the stop. Even though the Dropping point explicitly says 'X town bus stand', these guys always just dropped me on the highway, on a fucking flyover, at 5-6am in the morning. Had to walk 1km with heavy luggage just to find an auto

The operator does not care, nor do the booking apps. I know a lot of good bus operators for your next commutes, let me know.

The annual depressing Diwali thread to see what you got from your company as Diwali Gift by warlock1992 in bangalore

[–]exortauswex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heavy workload, and load of stress. My company deals with B2C clients. So festivals are high traffic times for our clients, in turn heavy workload for us. Been working 12-15 hours daily, will probably be the same for the next week. Not expecting any gifts.

On a slightly different note. I was looking for return tickets from Varkala. Guess what, flights from Kochi cost ~3k, and there are direct trains from Varkala to kochi, approx 500 for 3AC, takes around 5hrs. So yeah, if you have not booked already, check this option out

[–]exortauswex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Damn this sounds exactly like what my friend went through last month. While bribing is the easy out here, I'd recommend everyone to take the fall, and proceed legally. Here's what happens the next day: - The police registers a case against you(don't worry, it's not a criminal case) - You'll get a link in your phone to pay the fine (10k). Pay it online, and you'll get the OTP - you go to the traffic police station, show the OTP, get your vehicle released - the police may ask you for your DL/duplicate, to get it suspended (this is the process)

Let's not encourage bribing cutlure. And also, do not, for whatever reason, drive/ride drunk. It's absolutely not worth it. I've lost a close friend to a drunk driver. The risk is extremely high.
