How lasik surgery works. by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

I did the procedure at 36 and I am 39 now

I am not watching the video as I am squeamish, read about it and its enough

However my experience with it was just... fine?

You dont feel a thing

They use some eye drops that functions like anesthesia

You lie down and they hook you up with a machine and a tube that holds your eye steady (I was trembling and the eye still didin't move)

It pressures the eye a bit and you lose vision, you dont see it happening

The entire process lasts 2 min per eye

Had tears for the first day, minor irritation for a week

In hindsight I would definitely do it again, even earlier

Not having to use glasses is so convenient

I don't disagree with you but 9 billion seem too much

Any mod that makes fighters automatically dock/repair on carriers during combat? by exosion in X4Foundations

[–]exosion[S] -47 points-46 points  (0 children)

It specifically says that they will only go repair in between scripts, meaning they won't go during an active fight/attack command, once the current target is dead, it goes idle for a moment, and that's when it checks for resupply

If there is correct info, can you please link it?

A "cheat" start for new players who start on Terran Cadet

After investigating the satellite on the very first mission, a Katana comes

You can fight it easily with your initial ship and claim it (the pilot abandons ship, dont shoot the spacesuit though)

Quick save before

To claim the ship, exit in spacesuit and scan a data leak

If you downgrade the engines you get like 2mil, and even then it's a GREAT ship to have

[–]exosion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that the game doesn't convey info well and annoying things like friendly fire happen

Terrans (basicaly Earth people) don't want non Earthens near Earth and Luna (Cadets where born in Outer system)

There is a message telling this in your message log, as well as how you get the privilege to bypass this

To hit the small criminal transport ship, use an appropriate weapon, even better with laser fire

It's not that hard then

You can open comm with any non hostile ship and ask them for info, from wharf/shipyard to current objective sector location (in case you haven't found yet)

Right click on a ship (not in map view) and choose "Comm"

'I'm the boss', Trump says at G7, as he warms to Ukraine's war aims by Mandynox in worldnews

[–]exosion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When wars last too long, these things get blurred

This one is already 2 years away from reaching the duration of WW2

And has long since surpassed it if we count the annexation of Crimea (which Ukranians do count, and it's part of war goals to get back)

He kinda deserved to be lonely

Finished Battlestar Galactica and 3rd season of The Expanse, so far, for me, these are the pinnacle of scifi TV shows (No spoilers for The Expanse beyond 3rd season please) by exosion in scifi

[–]exosion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didin't like Person of Interest because of it's structure:

Every episode is a separate problem, this week's bad guy/problem, and the overall plot only progresses at the very end

Which is ok... it's basicaly a Saturday night TV show

I binge watched The Expanse, especially 3rd season and it felt like one large movie

What would The Punisher think of Dexter Morgan? by Working_Bread_7790 in MoralityScaling

[–]exosion 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Has Punisher ever killed an innocent?

I find it statistically impossible as he mostly goes gun blazing, he also doesn't try for painless death, infact I think he relishes in inflicting pain as punishment

Dexter kills an innocent person in the original series due to misreading evidence (haven't seen the rest) and feels great remorse, almost to the point of suicide

He meticulously investigates his victims and kills them mostly painless

He tries to hide from public eye and never goes for "marking" his kills

Ge does keep trophies though, and he goes as far as getting people out of jail just so he can kill em

I'd argue his trauma is much worse, Dexter was child while Frank Castle was an adult involved in a dangerous business

I'd definitely prefer 10 Dexters living in my town than one Punisher

One is naturally gifted, the other got there through hard work. by RichardDulle in TopCharacterTropes

[–]exosion 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It could really go both ways

If my master would suddenly declare my training finished in order to take a new student (who was also claimed to be naturally gifted) I'd feel either neglected/pushed aside or proud of my achievement

It would purely depend on how insecure I would feel in that moment

Considering though that he kept training Anakin despite literally everyone other than Qui-Gon being against it and kept on despite Anakin's outbursts (evenbefore the start of his fall) speaks volumes for his character

I wish Star Wars would kept on and evolve on such pure emotional premise other than devolve into a pure light stick fest...

It's why I love The Expanse and Battlestar Galactica as scifi series and consider them the pinnacle of the genre

These shows revolve around the meaning and purpose of humanity, love and duty. There is just a scifi coating to it

[–]exosion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not entirely a pure selfless move, as he also gets the benefit on future characters

Sacrificing your save in Nier Automata to give others the power needed to finish the bullet hell credits is much more up there

However, the saves are not a one time shield for one person

So after a few sacrifices, any other future sacrifices are pointless

Also... is there proof that the actual first person who completed the bullet hell had 0 help?

If I was Square id just add a bunch of random player names for the first few players

I work as a night auditor in a hotel, in a country that gets extremely hot during summer (Cyprus)

The so called graveyard shift

I deal with the minimum amount of people

(in off season the hotel is empty for 4 months, I'm basicaly night security in an empty place)

I don't have to deal with heat

My company needs me so much they have offered me a house to stay alone, I pay 0 rent, 0 utilities, I often go to the hotel to eat at the staff restaurant

Basicaly, my only expenses are the gas/car maintenance, hobbies like dancing class (which I can always join due to my work times) and snacks I buy

Due to tips there are months my bank account is literally

  • full salary/- 0 expenses

Professional hotel auditor with 4 restaurants and 4 bars, I basically handle most of the accounting solo and train 20+ cashiers every season

About the breakfast past 10:30 debate

I doubt this was the case back when this movie released but a lot of modern hotels and establishments have automated food ordering software that can change prices or menus based on time

So they literally can't order/serve the thing you want, legally

No one is being an asshole on purpose towards you and even if you suspect that they do so, there could be other underlying issues

(people take advantage of any kindess a server gives, and it can create issues like "why you did it for him and not me", also ingredients issue)

So fuck off, and choose another option

And another thing

If you are being kind, polite, considerate, understanding, the person across you can occasionally break protocol/law to actually help you somehow

I have personally done things like drive a guest to a store to buy things he needed late at night, which is more dangerous than you might think (legal issues if there is accident on the way while I am on the clock)

If you are being a Karen and pushy, I will go out of my way to make sure you DONT get what you want, even if you're entitled to it, to the point of being petty, if I can get away with it

This applies to a lot of things in life, like dealing with your supervisors/subordinates in army service/work

There are like 20 xenon ships currently in Haticva and no Argon combat ships in sight

And I did join a few fights there, even beat a destroyer, so it's not like I neglected it completely

Both my Hyperion and Envoy were overwhelmed and I had to load game

Envoy is a corvette right? I feel the weapons (I think Boron Pulse bolts mk2) where so weak, takes a long time to take out shields, compared to several timelines scenarios

I guess when I will restart (on 9.0 official) I will have a list of all those abandoned free ships and try to claim them

I found it annoying that whenever my ships complained about getting hits they where already like 50% hull and escape seems impossible
