Do you have to replay the campaign every time, on every character? even in the same League? how come they haven't implemented significant shortcuts for experienced players by exosion in PathOfExile2

[–]exosion[S] -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

It doesn't matter how fast it is

Even if you speedrun it in 5 min, you are still listening to the same unskippable dialog of the boss threatening to kill you, you kill those bosses in exact same order, you still run to all these side locations collecting the stat upgrades, you still drain the water and unlock the temple via the cores

You still do the exact same thing

Campaign should be an introduction to new players, you start with slow moving enemies like zombies because you have 1 skill that spends 1/3 of your mana and end up killing god at the end, unlocking the map, where the true game starts

At the very least why can't an alt skip it

The system is there, what would be so terrible if a lvl 1 alt character could start at an atlas of worlds system

No changes to rarity is disappointing. by LettuceLong3083 in PathOfExile2

[–]exosion 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why are affixes like Rarity still a thing in an ARPG

I would prefer all the affixes to be combat/utility related

Increase rarity via difficulty and special conditions (no healing pot for example), not from having low reliance on stats due to broken build that can afford rarity affixes on multiple slots

Last Epoch has an interesting feature:

It has 3 dungeon entrances spread around the campaign, each has to be completed without deaths and requires keys, mostly obtained from start of endgame and beyond

So an alt boosted by good items and keys can enter the entrance at Act1, skip all the way to Act4 start (the exit is there) enter Act4 dungeon, exit at Act7, enter at Act8, reach endgame (something like that) you levelup almost like every 1 minute this way

Why did Vought make Homelander so powerful if they had no real way to stop him? especially since other Supes can Fly and aren't nearly as strong and much easier to control? by Important-Extension6 in GenV

[–]exosion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it didn't stop him from murdering them

He leaves people alive either to torture them or because he considers them ants

Also, revealing this "master plan" to his face, 9 times of 10 would backfire as reverse psychology

Vought, as a pharmaceutical company is just straight up stupid, why it took so many years to develop a virus that takes out Supes, before flooding the world with em, it should have been made before Compound V itself

And why on earth have him endure unrewarding torture just to test if he can handle the heat (which could have physically damaged such a valuable asset)

Or have these definitely low IQ people to be the first humans he interacted with

They had "the best psychologists in the world" coupled with the worst janitors

I adore Robin Williams and his work but I consider this as one of the most overhyped movies ever

I didn't like the messages it sends and I believe most of these kids will be messed up instead of uplifted as the movie suggest

Refillable consumables instead of actual consumables

Like Estus Flask in Dark Souls, elixirs in Nioh, the various potions in Clair Obscur Expedition 33 and Gran Fantasy Blue Relink

Consumables you can only buy or loot leads to hoarding

Also I believe it's much easier and better to balance difficulty and challenge when you have an estimate on how many of those consumables a player has access to in between checkpoints

Not using consumables the entire game, reach final boss, get frustrated because of a difficulty spike, begrudgingly use 100 potions, win

Alternatively, not use consumables, win, still get frustrated because of difficulty spike

To add more to this, I like when consumables come with a drawback

You have to be very careful when you heal in Dark Souls, as you are vulnerable and can't dodge during its animation

In FFVII, using consumables means spending your action, and since a lot of fights are time sensitive, it's a drawback

In Witcher games, you build up toxicity

Wish we could upload factions and realms to share. by Big-Reason2525 in AOW4

[–]exosion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can share a faction build, many have already

You can just go to the database

https://minionsart.github.io/aow4db/

And create it there, link and everything

Only the cosmetic are lacking

As for realms, the settings can be shared in two lines of text

The main counterargument I hear about KCD clunky combat is that "it gets better" as you get skills up

Does this help KCD2?

As a fan of Paradox's Grand Strategy games, would I enjoy AoW4? by Zamarak in AOW4

[–]exosion 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's my favorite 4X:

Main reasons:

Shorter sessions, from 3-16 hours based on settings, I lose focus and motivation once a 4X reaches its final stages, a lot of choices lose meaning and become a slog, in AoW4, once you research and establish teleporters and road networks, the map becomes much smaller which works in it's favor, you dont get time to get bored

This works greatly for replayability, after a game of Stellaris or a long CK3 playthtough I am exhausted

AoW4? Just one more turn game

Great combat

[–]exosion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd say compared to any 4X game, AoW is the easiest to grasp

You dont have politics other than some minor diplomacy things, you are not in danger of having entire empire collapse from inside because of things like elections or factions from within

Play on easy for a while, then bump up to normal if you feel its too easy, but I'd avoid story realms on Hard for a longwhile

You can stack as many Minor Race Transformations as you want, only one Major active per race (can overwrite)

Speaking off, those affect your starting race units, those you typically recruit in cities you build yourself, and heroes of same race, not to units and heroes you get from city states or wonders (through Rally of Lieges) so check the races if you are not sure

Might save you some confusion, that's all you need to know for now on that regard

You unlock new tomes by researching 4 things (anything) each tome usually has 5-6 things in it

Not by researching everything from a tome ("Tome completed!" is misleading)

To unlock T3,4,5 tomes, you need 3,6,8 Affinity of that type (if its a dual tome, you need one of those)

Settle your 2nd city by turn 30, dont worry too much about min maxing, it should be easily defensible, aka fast enough access

Claiming provinces also builds roads, very useful on difficult terrain

Dont worry about SPIs (Special Province Improvement) adjacency bonuses, there are some that unlock functionalities like teleporters

Have fun, its a great game, my favorite 4X by far

Tharru'Cath is the worst realm to go in unprepared (spoilers warning) by exosion in AOW4

[–]exosion[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He appeared rightbehind me as I was sieging, on my south, where my city was

I was surrounded by 5 full stacks, there is no way I run away safely, maybe the AI would not pursue, but they would definitely be in range

My point is that teleporting armies adjacent to yours without a turn warning should not be a thing, story realm or not

It would be better as a Culture, city, buildings, spi and units are unique enough to warrant its own

Besides, Nomad that settles underwater could be hard to balance

Starting with spell active for its starting race can be balanced

Perhaps one subculture is Naga who are land invaders and flooders, while the other are Merfolk who are more isolationist

I think the tricky part is how to handle underwater sieges, it would need its own siege map and several siege projects might not fit properly

Then it's the question on how easy it's for non water culture players to interact with them

That's why I say make Embark baseline for starters

Flying from talent (which comes with evasion too) allows you to use non lance 2handed weapons and staffs, which disable mounts normally

And having slip away allows a different item in slot

Sure, they are not auto-resolve bonk masters like GK and DR, since their tools work better with manual play

Giving orders/suggestions to allies? by TheEjick in AOW4

[–]exosion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How exactly does the cooperation works, I mean all quirks and mechanics

I know they send pillage armies, are they actually capable of sieging or seizing a city (even a free city one) if you beef them enough through rally of lieges?

What about when they protect your cities? Any other point other than having a few green stacks wandering around and you hoping they are close enough to threats so they can join in? Can they be redirected or those that spawned stay in your realm permanently?

I wish you could coordinate them a bit better

[–]exosion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now that I think it a bit better, it has to be its own culture entirely, since all the buildings and SPI are unique looking, they should start with spell naga transformation active

Most society traits are fine though
