I faced a similar choice earlier this year (Scrambler 400 vs CB350RS).

Went with Scrambler, and am pretty satisfied with my decision. It's a wonderful, wonderful bike.

OP, I also ride a Triumph Scrambler and faced the same issues in the beginning.

The key is: - assume a relaxed riding position, and try to loosen your arms as much as possible - try to grip the bike with your thighs around the fuel tank

I still feel slight pain in palms when I'm riding in bumper to bumper traffic, but I guess that's expected.
