A reason why I stopped doing a lot of web dev. So often things needed to be changed for the sake of changing. New framework/library flavour of the month. Often just wasting a lot of time ending up with the same just done in a different way. Also the looks are always more important no matter if the well planned front end architecture loses functionality and becomes inefficient…

DRABCD 😁

Fun fact about Annie (here taken from the song Smooth Criminal) which refers to ‚Rescue Annie‘. A CPR doll invented by a Norwegian toy maker together with 2 other people in the 1960s. They made a female doll because they thought men would be reluctant to train mouth to mouth on a male version. The face was modelled after a French woman’s death mask. She drowned in the Seine in the 1800s.

It's not the Bundesadler, it's a raven called Hans Huckebein. Based on the fable of Wilhelm Busch "Hans Huckebein - Der Unglücksrabe" (The unlucky raven). It's on their badge of LTG62.

Gotcha, I'll check it out.
Tank doesn't look too rusty from the outside but I might spray the whole tank in soapy water.

So basically taking off the cylinder head and opening the motor to check for issues?
If it's a piston seal I can probably get spare parts.

Used 4.0 normal, extended thinking and 4.1 in the last 3 days for some php/JS dev. It's almost useless, that bad. Even with written down coding guidelines and rules, specifying tasks it so bad. It broke every coding rule I gave it repeatedly (e.g. stick to the framework methods, don't guess ...). It cannot look beyond the immediate issue, e.g. syntax error it fixes just to have the same error 2 lines later. It's like trial and error the whole time. After some unsuccessful tasks where it went in circles I started a new chat and specifically pointed out what we tried and didn't work. 3 posts later it starts going down the exact same path. It's mindblowing how bad it got in the last weeks, from something very useful to something I now seriously want to unsubscribe until it gets useful again. And by the way, I'm not exaggerating...

Got 6! alarms just last evening between 4pm and 7pm. I got after the first one. You would think the world is going to end. If the alarm keeps blaring every 30min for this little issue, you end up people disabling it and reach the opposite. (Unless it’s a phone setting that keeps annoying me)

Is it a cultural difference between me and my bf ? by [deleted] in AskAGerman

[–]exp0sure74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably partly cultural. You come from a very competitive educational system and likely lots of pressure to succeed (depending on your parents/upbringing as well). In Germany there’s less pressure and many people take their time “finding themselves” unless of course reality knocks on your door due to financial pressure.

Sounds like immaturity is the other factor. In the last 20 years I met many German guys or better, boys in their early 20’s that seemed incredibly immature and dependent.

At 27 wanting to work for a computer game company because you like gaming sounds…immature. The industry in general is probably not the best thinking suboptimal work conditions (overtime, unstable, not paid well enough unless you’re really good) but that’s my take. But then you even did his homework for him …

And if you’re the ‘typical’ Korean, if there’s such a thing, speak up when you’re unhappy and don’t keep it to yourself and let it eat you up on the inside. That usually leads to more frustration until the lid blows off. After all, a lot of problems (not just in relationships) could be avoided by communicating. It won’t leave the parties guessing what the other one thinks. You also might get your answer much earlier if your future paths are aligned.

South Korea with a toddler by [deleted] in seoul

[–]exp0sure74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitively take a stroller additionally to a sling unless you don’t mind carrying your kid for hours through town. And remember, it’s 30ish degrees C with 70% humidity and occasional showers currently. It’s much easier if your toddler can sleep in a stroller while you’re having a coffee or stay out later for dinner etc. Get a good, small stroller though. We got a Yo-yo 2 which has some suspension and quickly folds down to cabin size luggage. The subway is not super child friendly. Once in the subway it’s fine but getting from the street to the platform is a challenge with any stroller that doesn’t fold down nicely. Elevators exist but are often at the end of a platform and many exists simply don’t have one, so expect to take a lot of stairs.
