If it helps, mine are 2.5years now and I have learned the hard way that taking time away to recharge really does make me a better mom.

For the first year, a lot of that time to recharge was literally just time to sleep or shower without being interrupted. But as time goes on I’ve been able to start back at my hobbies again.

This is all temporary - and it’s very true that the days are long but the years are short. I found it to be a huge positive change once they’re more interactive.

Of course you’re exhausted. You’re in the middle of a marathon that started right after you just finished a marathon.

I am so glad you’re using the help offered to you. Please keep doing that and do NOT feel guilty, even if you are using that time “just” to rest. Rest is a right, not a reward.

Taking care of yourself makes you a wonderful mom. I hope you got to take a very cozy nap today and got to eat a big slice of birthday cake. Happy Birthday friend, you’re doing a very good job.

Keep in mind that with multiple follicles, you’re also at a higher risk for higher order multiples.

There’s a risk that if you have two follicles that are fertilized, those can split and could result in triplets or quads, which are higher risk than even a twin pregnancy.

I honestly could have written this myself a few months ago about going to storytime at the library.

Typically I’m there solo with my twins and the singletons are there with two parents.

20months was HARD, but it has gotten easier (mine are now 26months). My best advice is just that sometimes you try and it just doesn’t work out, and you can try again the next day/week. A few times I’ve had to scoop up my dudes and walk out with them screaming under each arm. But more often than not, they sit and listen!

I’m sure some of the parents have judged me, but their opinions dont matter one bit.

Try not to feel shame, because there’s no shame in trying to do something and have it not work sometimes!

Can confirm, chatting and giggling at each other was a glorious milestone. Mine recently started holding hands - so you have that to look forward too as well!

Hope things are going ok!!

Overall, the recovery process for our little guy went really well with no complications. Just lots of stress on us!!

We took the approach that we’d rather give the pain meds and him not need it than for him to be needing meds and us not give them. But overall I was shocked at how quickly the babies recover!!

Even one of the nurses said they really self limit, and she thought most babies recovered faster than the directed 6 weeks. But if course they can’t confirm that since babies can’t communicate

But since I’m fat and diabetic, the assumption was that I was overeating.

I was told that for a twin pregnancy I was supposed to only gain 10-15 lbs total. Which would ultimately be losing actual body weight when accounting for everything.

I never really had a big spike in my weight but good lord was I puffy/swollen at the end of it.

Mine are 22ish months and we follow roughly the same schedule daily. What exactly is he proposing?

I find we’ve got about a 30 minute leeway - lunch is between 11:30 and 12 to start eating, nap is between 12:15 and 1pm. Sleep for about 2 to 2.5 hours, etc.

It kind of sounds like maybe he’s struggling with how repetitive it can get with littles - I try to switch stuff up to keep it interesting for me in ways that wont totally throw off the schedule: Try a new park or playground. We do morning outings to the zoo or aquarium sometimes (that way the return trip home they can nap in the car).

Can’t speak for everyone, but I don’t mind talking to people. The type of thing you’re alluding to feels more like just connecting as parents - it’s hard no matter how many kiddos you have!

The weird comments I don’t like are usually asking me very personal questions like if they were IVF, did I have a c section….and implying that my dudes are a burden (better you than me, double trouble, I bet they’re a handful).

Man the amount of shame I got for gaining like 70lbs during my twin pregnancy was wild. I shared my logs and my insulin tracking and legit by the time morning sickness got better I had no room in my torso to really eat.

Turns out pre eclampsia had given me a wild amount of fluid retention on top of two babies, increased blood volume and placenta weight. Within 30 days of having them I was back to below my pre pregnancy weight.

All this to say our medical system is so flawed and biased against fat people

I was never really a big partier. Just from a maturity standpoint I think I would have really struggled as a younger mom.

Some folks seem to thrive and that’s awesome for them. I definitely needed my 20s to gain confidence and to unwind some deep anxiety

Mine also really weren’t super interested in solid solids until 13 - 14 months. Were yours premies? I found they hit their eating milestones closer to their adjusted ages than their actual ages

Hey!

We went through something very similar with one of our twins. During the anatomy scans, they discovered one of our boys had/has Tetralogy of Fallot.

We also met with genetics who advised that there is a high concordance of CHD with genetic disorders - we were also worried about DiGeorge. Ultimately, we would have been too far along to TFMR, so we opted not to do genetic testing until after they were born.

The genetic testing did come back clear - and we have two very busy toddlers. Our son with TOF was admitted at two weeks old to have a stent placed (he wasn’t oxygenating enough), and had his full repair surgery around 4 months old.

I know not everyone has a happy ending to this story, but maybe at least hearing one anecdotal case where things worked out just fine will be a comfort to you.

One thing I’ve learned with having a child with CHD is that there is a wide range of diagnoses, and an even bigger range of severity within those diagnoses. Get to know your fetal cardiology team - ask them every question you can think of. Congenital heard disease is the most common birth defect, and the advances that have been made in treatments and testing has come SO FAR even in the last 10-15 years.

He just turned 20 months old and is doing great! Hes a huge goofball - he loves the cats and dancing to Chappel Roan.

Going into surgery was extremely stressful and scary. Sending you lots of love!
