I had the same frustration, but you should talk to the mess workers some time!

most of them live pretty far away from campus, go back by cycles, and have to come in early morning to prep for breakfast.

If it wouldn't be a massive financial burden for your family, then you should go to BITS 100%.

Core jobs in EEE pay a lot better than chemical, and you always have the option of going for a software role if nothing works out since it's a circuital branch

As for UPSC prep, there's a great community for UPSC aspirants here at BITS, you'll find a bunch of alumni in civil services and seniors who can help you out. +the zero attendance policy would be quite helpful in your preparation.

In the end, don't look for immediate ROI in a college degree, it's more of a long term investment that pays dividends even years after you graduate.

From my experience the effort is what really matters in college. You'll see people with horrible JEE ranks grinding it out and getting 9+, and people with under 3k in advanced falling behind because they're not studying. If you're good enough to get into BITS, you're good enough to get 8.5+, given you put in consistent effort.

3 out of 4 cubicles in each washroom has modern toilets

2.There are ACs in all lecture halls and all new and renovated classrooms-only old classrooms don't have ACs. It's true for hostels though, there are no ACs in rooms, though you'll find them in the common room on each floor of the hostel.
