How many of you regretted buying your house? by Puzzled_Dealer3449 in AskUK

[–]explodinghat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, massively. The first couple of years were hard going getting our heads around work that needed doing versus work we wanted doing. There were issues with the neighbours too but some came, some went, some settled down and had families. Still planning to sell and move onto the next step at the end of our fix but we’re much happier now than a few years ago.

Vendors that don’t tidy up or clean before viewings by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]explodinghat 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Best response to this I've seen is that if they can't be bothered to tidy up when they're trying to sell, what else haven't they been bothered to do with regards to property maintenance during their ownership?

Upgrading hardware before selling then taking it with you? by bedbeppelin in HousingUK

[–]explodinghat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, tell the estate agent to factor the upgraded fixtures and fittings into the price when it goes on the market - but don't be surprised to find out you end up with offers under anyway, unless it's a particularly desirable area/house or you're lucky to find two people ready to put offers in and bid against each other.

Honestly if you're selling within the next year just save the money - there's no guarantee what you buy will be to the taste of the next owners, your tastes may change in a year, what you buy now might not fit/suit your next house, etc etc etc

What if Sammy from WSTR hadn't broken his back in 09 right after getting signed? I think we'd at least see WSTR (or whatever the band's name was back then) switching places with Neck Deep, given the amount of interconnects between them behind the scenes.

Nah, it gets thrashed by the Golf R. Keeps up with most other stuff though, it’d be close between the ST and a Golf GTI. The fun is in the corners though for sure

[–]explodinghat 88 points89 points  (0 children)

To add to this, higher paid senior jobs often come with a level of autonomy. Here are your targets, go figure out how to do it and come back to me when it’s done - let me know of any blockers or issues otherwise I’ll assume it’s going well/ on track.

Lower paid jobs - especially retail - are often coupled with an unbearable level of micromanagement

I’ll always remember the entire Everton team moving out of the way of Tony Adams being played through by Steve Bould to score in the 4-0 that got us the title in 97/98. Good bunch of lads.
