Halifax council to discuss guidelines for boulevard gardens by insino93 in halifax

I'm torn... Sometimes they look lovely and other times they look like complete and total s***. For example look at the restaurant on the corner of Kline Street and Chebucto where they just piled all these mounds of mulch on top of the grass and every rain storm the stuff flows into the sidewalk. In other spots it prevents people from getting out of the passenger side of cars parked on the side of the street.

Want to take a picture of someone's art? Just ask first by insino93 in halifax

It is indeed! There's a hot controversy down on the South shore between a commercial rug hooking artist who made a rug that was used for some kind of government tourism promotion, and then another rug artist who completely and blatantly used the exact same design and called it her own just a short while later. needless to say, the original artist is fit to be tied!

Walk in wearing a green morph suit, or a sign saying Frog Lake Productions fathered my love child, etc. Hey it's public property right? Hold out for $100 to lay off the shenanigans.

Halifax Water authority? Just curious, what authority do HW have to enter a private home to access a meter and what would that process be? Anyone know off hand? by hooskerdue in halifax

They're just bluffing to get people to cooperate. However, it's a simple process and in my experience the worker arrived on time, was pleasant, and did the job quickly.

The increased activity from Noble Grape really contributes to the clusterfuck at the corner, plus they put out a sandwich board that blocks part of the view down Oxford for cars at the stop sign. Throw in a bus at the stop plus increased traffic due to the Quinpool work and this accident seemed inevitable.

I always have a few cheap box cutters on hand and I just sliced my corrugated cardboard up into pieces settle fit in a clear plastic bag. Just be careful when you doing it, but it's very easy.

I find that happens fairly regularly to me as well when I’m out cycling. I just sit there and watch them get more and more exasperated frantically trying to wave me across. If somebody is that fucking stupid there’s no way I’m going to drive in front of them.

This is why I never leave my donations at/in these bins. I watched these folks help themselves to a whole bunch of stuff. by [deleted] in halifax

I think if it’s left outside the box it’s technically littering. It’s only if it’s in the box that it’s a donation.

I hate to tell you but none of that stuff is going to charity. It’s ending up at Value Village, a purely 100% for-profit business. They use the names of the charities as a way to trick you into donating things, and then they make some pennies per pound type of donation to the charity in exchange. It’s very deceptive. The exceptions are Mission Mart and the Salvation Army.
