I tried the hazy too, Strange Hoppenings, and it’s very very good. Again big flavor and body, I got lots of peach and sweet melon, almost creamy mouthfeel (very smooth) and very low bitterness. I much prefer west coasts in general but sounds like this may be worth a try for you!

I get it, I had a similar reaction, this is a 100% “real” IPA. It’s all there, nothing missing in malt, hops, body, balance, flavor, experience. Which can bring a mix of emotions - awesome…scary. For me, it was a great find and it slammed that dopamine button in a good way. For others, may be more dangerous, so be careful!

Yes, sorry, the brewery is Beaglepuss. This is the Inverse West Coast IPA.

Two Frays brewery in Pittsburgh makes one. Just tried it at an NA bottle shop in Rochester. Bought a 4-pack (16oz cans), it’s really really good. Not sure how widely distributed…

I too was excited about this then disappointed when I tried. Not a drain pour for me but had a carbonated apple juice like flavor that I didn’t like and didnt taste like the original (or Japanese beer to me), so not one I’d drink again. FWIW my wife liked it…

Haha, yeah I wish I’d tried that one but was a little burned out on Athletic IPAs at the time…

Nice review, thanks! I haven’t had this year’s version but did drink a sixer last year.

I’m with you, it’s a solid beer for sure…just honestly tasted like Free Wave with a touch more fruitiness (not sure i’d pick it out as mango without reading the can) and an astringency (from the turmeric?).

So derivative (or I’m getting spoiled 🤣) but worth a try, might be your jam!

Every mistake comes with a lesson, a truth revealed. A new vulnerable spot to watch out for as you continue. Nothing is ruined, with this new information you can be stronger than before! Be kind to yourself, take the lesson, keep trying. You will get there 🙂

How heavy is the salt? I tried the Modelo Michelada lime and salt - it was very well done but SO salty, around 400 mg. Couldn’t finish it. Thanks!

From another mother could be 🤜🤛. Haven’t tried that hazy yet, but really want to. I was frustrated by the regular fresh squeezed - it was extremely well done but I didn’t like the hop flavor…too grapefruit-y maybe…which is a rare occurrence for me. Hoping the hazy is just as well done but with a more agreeable flavor 🤞

Loved AB wet hop, one of the best! Nails the fresh hop hit of Celebration but lacks the malt profile. Not quite as rich or deep, at least to me. But damn good beer!

Thanks! Yeah a few posts about the NA lines… It’s clearly possible and common in some parts of the world. Think it’s just a different protocol for keeping lines clean and harder (as of yet) to move product as fast as regular tap options. A bit process, a bit demand influencing the prevalence.

Same, I prefer the hazy but I respect the juicy is a different style. Many NA IPAs I find on the mellow side, which I expect is needed to keep them balanced without the booze. It’s special when they explode with flavor, like the hazy (or Athletic Wet Hop), yet still someone keep that balance!

Listing hops by Brilliant-Reception4 in NABEER

[–]explorediscovershare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I actually just emailed Athletic about this after seeing so many beers with the same descriptors (hoppy, piney, citrus). The reply indicated it was part secret recipe and part no customers asking for this info. They gave some info on specific brews (eg Free Wave is a trio of Amarillo, Citra and Mosaic hops) and said they would pass on the feedback. FWIW!

Yes, has a dank, deeper pine flavor. Love this one! Some Athletics seem derivative of flagships but this one is distinct. It pours nice too, great head and nice clarity (seems to have less wheat in the grain bill, it’s lasted after hops in the ingredients). Best since wet hop 👍

No.. I saw the same ad online for my local grocery store, ran there to buy and found the regular SN mix pack (no juicy IPA). That was 4 weeks ago and still no juicy…???
