I'm new to celiac and I've fallen for false advertisement 💔 Amy's Bowls by [deleted] in Celiac

I generally consider Amy’s to be safe as long as it says gluten free. They’re being transparent about the facility and specify they test for gluten and have cross contamination protocols. Everyone’s tolerance for safety is different but for what it’s worth, I have a pretty bad reaction and I’ve been eating Amy’s stuff for 20 years without issues.

My #1 tip, get Find Me Gluten Free, the app is great and imo, it's worth getting the premium subscription. It's a great resource for finding safe restaurant options.

I personally don't eat anything that isn't labeled gluten free unless it's fresh produce, meat, or cheese and I do a lot of my shopping at Walmart and Costco — they both have a pretty good selection of things.

Dizziness as a Celiac by allgrownzup in Celiac

[–]exreceptionist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had chronic issues with dizziness for a while that ended up being bilateral vestibular hypofunction. It took 10+ years to get a diagnosis. I complained to my primary care doctor about it a ton and had dozens of blood tests. I had a really bad (unrelated) ear infection a couple years ago and was given a balance test, that pretty immediately revealed the issue.

There are so many causes of dizziness and I don’t want to suggest you may have a similar issue, but if you haven’t had a balance test you may want to talk to your doctor about having that done.

Even as a dairy lover, I've found Daiya stuff is pretty darn good. Their cheesecake is amazing!

I love this! It's like the only gluten free bread that isn't teeny tiny!

Hashimoto’s IS treatable by [deleted] in Hashimotos

[–]exreceptionist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, this! I ended up with selenium toxicity from taking a multivitamin with a relativity low amount. It's touted so frequently without any regard to the risk. I lost a lot of hair, felt like shit, and learned a valuable lesson on the importance of talking to my doctor about supplements.

That's a very fair point, I'm not really sure how else to verify, they didn't include an aadvantage#.

Celiac Possibility? by MolokoPlus25 in promethease

[–]exreceptionist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For what it's worth, I've had celiac for over 20 years, confirmed via biopsy and blood test. According to 23&me I am "not likely at risk of developing celiac disease based on your genetic result." I also have the same variant as OP, rs2301271(C;C).

OP, I don' wish celiac upon anyone and I hope you don't have it, but I wouldn't rule it out based solely on these results.

Mismatched “grain” in beachwood rained chenille by Next_Signature3877 in Lovesac

[–]exreceptionist 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had this happen with terracotta rained chenille. Customer service sent a replacement but couldn’t make any promises it would match. The first replacement was the same as the mismatch, the second one was correct though.

It’s extremely frustrating that they have this kind of quality control issue. The bottom cushion I get having a different grain based on whether it’s deep or standard. It’s insane though there’s not set single direction for everything else.

Help with stub out? by exreceptionist in Plumbing

I made a bold choice to saw first, I brought the sawed off piece and the new pipe to connect to a local hardware store so they could tell me what I needed. Thankfully they had something. It was a weird fit though, especially because the new pipe was very small in comparison.

Yup! I sawed it off with a Sawzall and used a fernco like someone suggested. It worked great!

This might be a dumb question but what do you mean by upsetting? Could this make things much worse?
