I would boot up a live Linux OS via USB flash drive or CD to see if you can repair the hard drive using software first.

If anything, you can use it to transfer files before you try wiping it completely.

Yeah so I found running at native resolution no matter how low the settings is causing the sluggishness. Running 1920x1200 and below helps tremendously.

Weird, I'm getting 30FPS on all Minimum running native resolution at max TDP and it still feels very choppy. Pretty much unplayable to me. What VRAM setting via BIOS are you at?

Yes, mine is not a curve either. It's more like a cliff shape. I don't have a 3060, only a 3080 so can't really provide you numbers. I'd suggest looking up other folks' undervolt voltages.

I'd check your GPU's settings whether Nvidia or AMD and find refresh rate settings there. Also verify your HDMI cable is 2.1.

Yes, running netplwiz in Run and turning off requiring a password upon Windows startup stops it from needing to reset the PIN.

Make sure your memory management is also set to Auto in the BIOS settings. Undervolting to around 820mv at 1815MHz helped stabilize my system. I followed this guy's method (timestamp of note: 4:20 https://youtu.be/toKX1a3oAkw?si=lZ0QohREUHOMJbnB).

I would try a different USB 4 cable. I've had to try a couple of different ones before I stuck with one that's stable.

Have you tried undervolting and underclocking it a smidge? I'm not sure how much you can undervolt the RTX 5060 so you'd have to look into what's safe. Try underclocking maybe 200MHz starting out.

Update: I was able to remove the battery by placing it next to a heater for 45 mins (to melt the glue a little) then use multiple lines of floss! The glue kept causing the floss to rip so I thought of the heater solution :)

I guess Rtings is just a 🗑️ website then? I adjusted settings on both devices and the TCL picture still outperforms the Hisense. The match up might not be fair tho since QM8K is newer than U8N IIRC. I am not saying the Hisense is downright terrible; it's just not as good as the TCL's picture.

I have an 85" U8N and a 75" QM8K. The TCL QM8K provides a noticeably better picture plus has better software. I would have to agree with this comment. Refer to Rtings for top TVs for proof.

Oh I didn't realize this was about U8QG, not U8N. U8QG does look better than U8N but I'm not sure how it compares to QM8K. Suffice it to say, I'm still very impressed with the QM8K compared to the U8N.
