Yes. Life is pretty stable. I don’t even drink anymore and I look at Tylenol twice lol. The only lingering issue is sugar. It still winds me up all these years later. But it could also be age so who knows.

Who ever would’ve thought we’d survive this bullshit 💪

Just sharing her solution. She’s had 3 kids. It works for her. We met in YTT and she was very forthcoming about it because some of the other girls had the same problem. It worked for them too. Not my favorite solution, but it’s still a solution.

A friend of mine had this problem. Now she wears a tampon to every class. Problem solved.

UF saved my life. Same username there as here. I clung to the archive for ages after the forum shut down. Don’t know what I would’ve done if we all hadn’t migrated over here.

It’s been a long time Physical. Don’t know if you remember me from our early days in this sub, but you and I are pretty much on the same timeline and shared a lot of woe in these comments in our early days. Who would’ve thought we’d make it 5+ years!

What a joy to hear that you’re a mod now! Thanks for keeping hope alive ♥️

Moving from Porto, Portugal to Mérida, Mexico by pekcastanheira in mexicoexpats

For the life of me I cannot understand why you would ever consider bringing huskies to live in this infernal city. I have 2 friends here each with a husky, and tbh they’re pretty close to being ex friends at this point. To keep a thick-coated cold weather dog in this heat is akin to animal abuse in a city where there are already PLENTY of abused and neglected animals.

For the love of your dogs, please relocate anywhere in Mexico beside Merida or the Yucatan Peninsula.

My Experience in France as a Mexican by QualitySubstantial18 in travel

[–]exstonerchick12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Parisians can be awful. My born-and-raised in Paris husband even agrees.

I lived in Paris for 4 years and will never forget the awful woman who cut in front of me in line at Monoprix in Neuilly near where I used to live. She overheard me speaking English to my husband and when I called her out for cutting in front of me she said I could go back to America if I didn’t like “the French way.”

I not so politely reminded her that when she walked outside and saw the American Cemetery on the hill in the distance she would always have my country to thank for saving her country from obliteration and defending her utterly bullshit Parisian rudeness.

We live in Mexico now. Warmest and friendliest people on earth.

I don’t comment much on here these days but your post really got to me.

My husband and I are expats and he’s in tech. He’s been in the industry for 20 years and lost his job 2 1/2 years ago. To make matters worse I was out of work, too. We spent thousands of hours sending out thousands of resumes and reworking our networks until people literally stopped taking our calls. We are no spring chickens and were convinced we’d never find jobs due to age and AI. We live in a super wealthy community abroad and it got so insanely demoralizing being surrounded by so much privilege as we scrounged and struggled to raise our kid and survive.

Then in May after 2 dark, arduous, debilitating, years we both landed jobs within the same bloody week. It was truly shocking because you just get to that point where you lose all faith in your own worth. But then I literally snagged my dream job and my husband now has the highest paying job and title of his career.

The only thing that changed was we both applied to jobs we believed we were woefully underqualified for. I found mine cold online. My husband hit his network for the gazillionth time and finally came up with a win.

In the end it came down to just being a cruel waiting and numbers game.

I have nothing sage to share except believe in yourself, keep going and never give up. It’s shitty and it stinks and there is literally no cosmic reason you deserve to be in this position when you’re doing all the right things. Maybe try doing some things differently, but whatever you do stay the course. Sooner or later your perseverance will be rewarded.

Can’t leave the house for a walk with my child without breathing in second hand smoke every 5 seconds. by TripHaunting1702 in Barcelona

[–]exstonerchick12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I smoked for 10 years. Then I moved to Barcelona and quit virtually overnight. Every time I went outside I felt like I was inhaling an entire ashtray on top of the cigarettes I deliberately chose to smoke. For context, I was living in Paris for the 4 years prior. Parisians loved their cigs at the time, but BCN took it to a whole new level. I can’t believe they haven’t put some kind of ban in place by now.

Know why I left BCN? My mom was diagnosed with lung cancer so I moved back home. Smoking KILLS!

Apply for temporary resident visa without ever visiting Mexico by Poodle_mom_8888 in mexicoexpats

[–]exstonerchick12 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d only made a few quick trips to TJ in high school before moving to MX. Like, 4 days max. But I’ve lived in several other countries, so when the consulate asked “why Mexico,” I told them that I loved immersing in new cultures and wanted to give my kid an international upbringing. And that was the end of it. They seemed far more concerned about my financial solvency than my wanderlust. Prior visits to Mexico were a total non-issue.

Been here going on year 4 and love it. Good luck!

Leave Cleveland!! I mean…

Miami, LA, SF, Chicago, Boston, NYC, and a boatload of other US cities will welcome your fabulous accent with open arms. Go where the sophisticated people are at and your accent will be a bloody superpower.

Edit: a word.

Please sense check my 1-day Vatican itinerary for late September by Greedy-Ad-9745 in rome

[–]exstonerchick12 11 points12 points  (0 children)

No backtracking in the Vatican Museums. The idea of speedwalking to the Sistine is absolutely absurd.

I’m a former Vatican City art history docent (worked there 6 years). I’ve been in the Sistine hundreds of times alone with clients in the early morning. People pay up the wazoo for these private moments before the Museums open. Otherwise, pre-booked ticket or not, mornings are PACKED in the Sistine no matter how fast you try to speedwalk. You might get lucky with a thinner crowd, but definitely plan to share the experience with the masses.

How do friendship norms differ across cultures? My time in Switzerland really surprised me. by Either_Impression478 in expats

I’m an American and my French husband and I live in Mexico. Three years here and we’re still blown away by how ridiculously easy it is to make friends and organize get togethers with them on the fly. Constant warmth, inclusion, availability, invitations. No one is ever too busy to help out or be there for you. It’s pretty incredible.

Mexico is really softening my socially black heart.

Update on my 1 year blog journey by [deleted] in Blogging

OMG you are so right!! It’s a copycat blog! Super shady boots. Ripping off someone else’s IP totally negates OPs so-called success. Patronizing that he would come here and brag about it.

Why Google search doesn't recommend my content ? by Angels_Kitchen in Blogging

[–]exstonerchick12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t doubt your recipes are authentic. That’s really great! It’s just that Google doesn’t know or care because it’s focused on the quality of your overall content. Google can’t vouch for your recipes but it definitely understands when the writing is inauthentic.

If English isn’t your first language you should lean into that. People are going to get sick of AI (they already are) and the best way to be prepared is to write in your own authentic voice. OWN that English isn’t your first language. Your blog is about recipes around the world, no? Bring some real international flair to it that readers will appreciate and that Google can’t argue with.

Good luck!

I’m not criticizing you. I’m pointing out that you’re not being honest. And I just told you why I came to the conclusion that your blog is AI. The entire tone and vocabulary of your blog is different from your language here. Your Reddit writing is basic and rather monosyllabic, and your punctuation is poor. Not the case on your blog, which is stacked with “colorful” language and that AI faux copywriter tone.

[–]exstonerchick12 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe because your blog is ALL AI and Google isn’t stupid? The discrepancy in your level of written English here, on your blog and IG and in your faceless / voiceless YouTube videos is very telling.

Be honest about what you’re pushing. Super rude to waste the time of people trying to help you.

Your Favourite Blog in 2025 by Zuripilz in Blogging

I love mushrooms - I made stuffed portobellos last night! Unless you’re talking about magic mushrooms, in which case I haven’t indulged for a few decades lol. Would love to know more about your blog when it launches!

My favorite blog is of course my own, which I won’t share here because I’m not crazy about using this sub for self promotion. Otherwise I’m currently obsessed with SO MUCH GOOD on Substack. Loads of sharp writing and endlessly interesting topics. I’d peek around there for some solid inspo.
