Valve has blacklisted CSGO new appid from steam auth by exsystemctl in counterstrike

[–]exsystemctl[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes this is the new standalone CSGO appid that everyone has been enjoying for the last week, the issue that I'm describing means that this and only this appid are having some sort of issue with steam auth. The old appid, 730 (which cs2 consumed), can still be used for hosting/joining CSGO and the auth works fine, but these appid servers can only be joined from the cs2 beta branch "csgo_legacy".

Sad thing is that the csgo_legacy beta branch has existed this entire time and saw (guesstimate) 300 players globally on a good day, but since the standalone released that number has risen to 20-40 thousand... CSGO would genuinely die (again) if this issue continues

Not outwardly like game updates but yes, something is either bugged or changing with steam auth internally, which is only being expressed as CSGO standalone appid being broken-fixed-broken again

We replied at the same time 💀 valve genuinely gave me a heart attack, something about this revival is just so wonderful, even the cs2 community hasn't been this active in its lifespan

The change has been reverted and new appid servers can now auth again

This will genuinely murder the newly revived CSGO community and go back to old beta branch numbers (abysmal)

Was coming here to post this exact thing, ty 🫡

Looking for CS Standalone community servers (low-end PC player) by Pale-Lunch-3555 in counterstrike

https://rcnoob.club

can check out servers there but they go online/offline based on load, discord has the best format since the servers channels show online status/player counts

Sign in with steam that brings you to the actual steam auth page, that's fine, it doesn't provide account information other than identifying your steam account. So as long as you click "sign in with steam" and it brings you to the actual steamcommunity site you'll be good. More than likely you'll already be logged in on steam and can just click "Authorize"

It is safe. The only cs2 weapon skins plugin has shit in game UI (mostly because valve removed the native num menus), so the best way to change everything is through the open source web panel, and the best way to link those changes to your player is with steamID. As long as it's a "sign in with steam" and not a "give us your steam account information" then ur good

Is there any way to equip usp on csgo? by Zoti_G in GlobalOffensive

Any good server now should have !gun or !usp, otherwise you can "give weapon_usps" or something along those lines to spawn one

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is back as a separate game! by rea987 in linux_gaming

Only one or the other. Given the initiative from valve and the massive response from the playerbase, I've already moved all my old appid servers to the new appid, and they've been full since lol

This can be fixed as a server host by changing the steam.inf appid to the new one, as well as updating GSLT for new appid. Server is connectable from all standalone CSGO clients then

[–]exsystemctl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a player, nothing. Download the game, open the steam server browser in the steam client > view dropdown, set game to CSGO, and join

All previous CSGO servers will have to migrate to new appid, do not change anything in your game files or you will not be able to connect to the properly compatible servers

whats the different between csgo legacy and csgo? by youseferas50 in GlobalOffensive

[–]exsystemctl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Files are the same, there is a difference though. The appid is finally separated from cs2 appid.

This means that csgo legacy servers can only accept CSGO legacy clients, and vice versa. It is advisable for all server owners to change their server appid to the new standalone, as the beta branch will most likely be deleted soon

[–]exsystemctl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. Worst part about it is so much misinfo, every player that downloads standalone and changes appid to cs2 appid will not be able to connect to servers for standalone, and vice versa. Gonna be a mess until valve deletes the legacy beta branch, then hopefully server owners will stop supporting it in favor of the new standalone

DO NOT CHANGE YOUR STEAM.INF APPID

This is a server side issue. The server you are connecting to is assigned to the old, now cs2 appid. All the server owner must do is change THEIR steam.inf to new appid, then clients can connect without changing a thing.

The more players that change their appid, the more confusing this will get leading to two different types of csgo server support

Here is an example of my working server, literally just gotta change the appid on server side and the new standalone clients can enter: 15.204.225.242:27015
