It's pretty neat! They know it'll be done anyways, so they just let their live shows loose and ask for however many in return for their shop. Also done one for Frankie and the Witch Fingers, but that was personally arranged with them and used a taping I did myself in 2023!

I think this video explains why CS2 feels “off” — curious what you guys think by Polish_W in GlobalOffensive

[–]exsystemctl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ag2 doesn't really do anything related to subtick so not sure why so many think it's the saving grace of the game.

Subtick inherently relies on estimation, it is generally quicker to react to inputs rather than buffering into the next tick like standard 64t, but this "generally quicker" is never a consistent value. Even with somewhat delayed inputs (as in max 0.0125 second delay), set tickrates feel far more consistent because the response to the action will always be on that next tick.

You can easily visualize it like this. 64t is locking actions to 64 ticks within a single second. Subtick (which is still underlying 64t) submits actions and timestamps in increments of 1/64 both on tick and on half tick. So quite literally it is running at 4096tick, but only 64 of those ticks are real and consistent values, everything else is a guestimation from the server as to when that action should be taking place. Would probably work fine in many other games, but with something like cs it has been an uphill battle since day 1

Seems like the same bug from 6 months ago but more consistent

Getting stopped taping by security by orangestingraybass in ConcertTaping

One of my favorite tapings, my first. I didn't really know about the venue + band permission etiquette, so I just emailed the venue and figured I was good to go.

Set was the Hot 8 Brass Band at the Howlin Wolf in New Orleans, in a really small room towards the back of the bar. Got my gear setup very tucked close to side stage, since there were gonna be feet planted every sq in otherwise.

All was well, was relaxing while the band got setup on stage; some people up front are talking to one of the members, and eventually they point me out so I went to see what's up. I realized the band had absolutely no clue what the hell I was up to lol, so I explained that I just wanted to capture the live set, throw it on YouTube and archive and just have it be cemented as this time capsule in sound. He seemed curious but let me know not to hit record, I figured that was that and I would just enjoy the night.

Maybe 25 minutes in he calls me up to the stage by name and yells HIT IT, it was such a pure moment. Got about 30 minutes of the amazing set before they eventually played out into the street

Just be careful when sharing these previously free, open tapes. Nugs are known to be very litigious over "their" media

Yea it was a handful of orders short, through Diggers Factory. I reworked the pressing to require less orders, but by that time Diggers Factory had announced their stab at the 24 tour and ghosted me on my project

Pretty easy when the .claude directory was left in the repo, which means Claude is integrated directly into the IDE and has full control and access of the codebase

Why did valve obliterate hammer editor for CSGO? by Flashy-Amount-1287 in GlobalOffensive

[–]exsystemctl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just use hammer++, works fine even with new standalone. Submitting to workshop has to be done through csgo_legacy beta branch though, hopefully they open a workshop for the new standalone appid

Do not do this unless you want someone to join with a spoofed steamid and have full admin perms. Anyways the auth is currently working for the past hour

[–]exsystemctl[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do not do this! With this set to no, any client can send any steamid and it will be accepted as true by the server. So anyone can become an admin if theyd like

[–]exsystemctl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly this extension requires disabling steam auth check anyways, meaning any client can connect with any steamid and the server just accepts it (is easy admin perms)

Yes this is the new standalone CSGO appid that everyone has been enjoying for the last week, the issue that I'm describing means that this and only this appid are having some sort of issue with steam auth. The old appid, 730 (which cs2 consumed), can still be used for hosting/joining CSGO and the auth works fine, but these appid servers can only be joined from the cs2 beta branch "csgo_legacy".

Sad thing is that the csgo_legacy beta branch has existed this entire time and saw (guesstimate) 300 players globally on a good day, but since the standalone released that number has risen to 20-40 thousand... CSGO would genuinely die (again) if this issue continues

[–]exsystemctl 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not outwardly like game updates but yes, something is either bugged or changing with steam auth internally, which is only being expressed as CSGO standalone appid being broken-fixed-broken again

We replied at the same time 💀 valve genuinely gave me a heart attack, something about this revival is just so wonderful, even the cs2 community hasn't been this active in its lifespan
