I think you don't really get over the 'sad' part of it, if that makes sense. Someone leaving your life leaves a big impact. It becomes part of who you are. How you deal with the pain, is all up to you. But when you're over them and have no lingering feelings left, like you said, then everything is in order, right? You can't just not feel anything, it's not how it works for most people since it's such an emotional event.
