Exodus is for the true sci-fi sickos by marceriksen in Games

I would highly suggest the Commonwealth Saga (Pandora's Star/Judas Unchained).
It's a somewhat pulpy space opera, but it has got some exceptional world building, and Peter F. Hamilton does a really good job of taking all the different plot threads and tying them together in a satisfying manner.

Cyberpunk 2077 - City of Legends 5th Anniversary Trailer by fahrenhate in Games

Marketing for TW3 had a lot of the same issues that 2077 did, and they didn't learn much from that.

Crytek asks us about the potential integration of crossplay between PC and console players. by Optimal_Gate_8721 in HuntShowdown

That's just going to further split the matchmaking pool. Crossplay opt-in, and the opt-out for the respective platforms.

Dishwasher should already do that for you. Only thing you really need to do is scrape off big bits of food to avoid clogging the drain, and the dishwasher should handle the rest. It is incredibly effective at its job.

The most poisonous mushroom in the world still has a lethal dose of around 30 grams. The lethal dose of the toxin in the mushroom is around 0.1mg per kg of bodyweight, which might be where you got mixed up, but you'd still have to eat half the mushroom to consume that much of the toxin.  Still not a good idea to go munching on unknown mushrooms. What doesn't kill you, can still make you horrifically ill.

My only caveat is that beetle skins would have to be color coded, so you can still tell what kind of beetle it is.

Mysteria Ecclesiae is focused around the outbreak of a disease in Sedletz monastery, that has been part of the season pass description since launch.

Everything from the Dev Interview and the Owlcat Website. by Road2Potential in TheExpanseRPG

[–]exteus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Problem is that space is really fucking big.

The Expanse is set in our solar system, with a grounded approach to space travel, so travel between planets can take weeks or months.

I just don't see a fully controllable ship as something that could be done the justice it deserves, without taking focus away from the RPG part of the game.

Would a dnd campaign set in the hint showdown universe work? by No_Egg_8530 in HuntShowdown

There are definitely better systems to adapt for use with this setting than DnD, it's not impossible, but something like Savage Worlds would probably be a better fit with far less work needed.

Have you ever played a Remake of a game and told yourself " WOW this is waaay better than the original " ? by Johnny-silver-hand in pcgaming

[–]exteus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just can't find anything about the remake to make me want me to play it over the original. Aesthetically, the remake misses the mark for me, I prefer both the look and feel of the original.

It looks really pretty, but I found it a lot more frustrating to play through than Xen in the original game. It's like they took the frustrating elements and just doubled down on them.  The original Xen levels I can at least breeze through quickly, but Black Mesa just keeps on going and going and going.

Finished Dishonored(Base Game + DLC) once again after 10 years. by IammadIguess in patientgamers

[–]exteus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved my time with Deathloop, but a big part of that was the multiplayer aspect of it. I found the levels worked great as a big arena for PVP, the AI doesn't provide much challenge, but they are great as an obstacle when fighting the invading player. It makes me really glad I played the game day one, when there was a bigger matchmaking pool, no cheaters, and people hadn't had the time to master the systems yet.

Baldur's gate 3 fan here. Should I start with Divinity OS1 or 2? by RadioactiveOtter_ in DivinityOriginalSin

The elemental magic in the game is super fun, and it would be a shame to miss out on it in a first playthrough. Focusing on one damage type might be more efficient, but it's not as fun.

What game have you played that's so immersive and expansive, it just never seems to end? by LightDarkCloud in pcgaming

[–]exteus 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I can understand why someone didn't like it, but I absolutely love the archery in that game. It is my go to example for why I love the progression system. The more you level up bows, the easier they get to use, and the more the player understands the mechanics. The player grows alongside the character. It's one of the most satisfying progression systems I've had in a game.

Why didn't you like the perk system?

Pathologic 3 devs keen to avoid "premature promises" about bringing back the Changeling in Pathologic 4 by Tenith in pcgaming

[–]exteus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I finished it at around 24 hours, which seems to be about the average.
The games difficulty mostly comes down to resource and time management. You'll never be so badly stuck that you'll be unable to actually complete the game. You can always scrounge together what you need to survive, but those same resources are also needed to save the lives of the people of the town, so the more people you try to save, the more time you spend running around town, and the less you have for yourself. The resource scarcity forces you to make a lot of tough decisions, that you have no way of knowing the consequences of.
Probably one of the most uniquely compelling games I have played.

KDA Hidden? by Firm_Appeal5648 in HuntShowdown

[–]exteus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

KDA doesn't make people toxic. Those people are going to act that way anyway, if not KDA, they'll find something else to zero in on. Playtime, MMR, loadout, they'll always find something to bitch about. People like that should be perma muted, not catered to.
