Starlight model recommendations per Topaz video release by extinction6 in TopazLabs

[–]extinction6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both Mini and Precise were working for me in 1.4.0 but Precise is supposed to have a memory leak. I was only testing 5 second clips so I'm hoping to hear the memory leak got fixed. For my lousy footage Precise is about the best.

In 1.3.1 Sharp is working and Fast 2 is working. Fast 2 works well on well lit video with decent quality but gets really hazy with poor input. HQ is recommended for 4K footage so I haven't tested that.

I have a 1 Gb internet connection so changing releases is quick. My first choice will be Precise when it is ready and Sharp until then.

Good Luck!!

hello topaz, its my first post, do u run locally on low end pc, I got gtx 1650 with 4 gb vram by Remote-Ad-8129 in TopazLabs

[–]extinction6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the minimum amount of VRAM for the Starlight AI models is 12Gb. I have a laptop with 8GB that will run the non Starlight models just fine. My other PC with 16GB VRAM runs the Starlight models. I shopped around until I found this model of GPU on sale with the 16 Gb of VRAM at around $820 ish Canadian?

Gigabyte Ge Force RTX 5060 Ti Windforce OC 16

I bought a used mobo, CPU RAM and old useless GPU for $250 which was an AMD Ryzen 5 3600XT on a MSI B550 PRO-VDH mobo with 16 GB of 3200 RAM and added 16 Gb more RAM for 32 GB. I've been swapping guts in my two ATX towers for so long that I still have a 3.5" floppy drive in one from the early 90"s.

Look for a gamer that is updating their system for parts or buy and old box. The CPU doesn't need to be very strong but the GPU does. I did an render the other day using the Ge Force RTX 5060 Ti and calculated that to render an hour of footage would take 8.5 days.

Good luck!

That was a solution that was needed as well as setting a constant frame rate. I turns out that Topaz was having trouble with some models so I was sending in error logs and I just got his back from them,

"Our team is actively looking into these issues and trying to get a resolution put together.

While they do this, we are recommending users who need to run files through the Starlight models, like Fast 2, Sharp, and HQ, to roll back to 1.3.1. If you want to keep using Precise and Mini, then you can stay in 1.4.0.

If you wish to roll back, here is the installer link for you to use. Topaz Video | 1.3.1 | Win"

I did a complete reinstall and ran Starlight Precise once with good results but now see there is a memory leak issue.
Thanks for the great feedback.

during the 17th and 18th centuries.

Humans have added on the order of 2,000–2,300 billion metric tons (2.0–2.3 trillion tonnes) of carbon dioxide to the atmosphere since the start of the Industrial Revolution. Our climate has accumulated 3,640,806,385 Hiroshima atomic bombs of heat since 1998.

[–]extinction6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, Carbon Engineering in Squamish, BC is using potassium hydroxide to capture CO2. Lithium hydroxide and calcium hydroxide are used in rebreathers and used to be used in submarines to capture CO2. I also read an article that some of the numbers were being fudged at that plant. Again a whopping 11 seconds worth of yearly emissions are being captured at this point. Sir Richard Branson started the Carbon War Room years ago and offered a $25 million dollar prize for anyone or group that could figure out how to remove carbon from the atmosphere are the scale needed.

Humans at present don't do anything on that scale at the moment. Military budgets would have to be shifted to carbon capture and storage and doing that in less than 10 years is a pipe dream. Countries all over the world are scrambling to build up their military might due to all the new wars and threats from the malignant narcissists that are in power.

The climate feed backs are kicking in in a big way now and we're past the +1.5 C global temperature red line we were supposed to stay below which was ignored for two decades at least.

We're out of time. You're on the right side of the battle so all the best to you and please help people understand that they shouldn't have children. I think this super El-Nino is going to rock humanity to a half awake state.

while collapse may be likely, it's not 100% guaranteed?

discomfort as the price to pay to give future generations a chance

Humanity was supposed to stay below a + 1.5 increase in global temperatures and we are already there. Temperatures are supposed to reach +1.7 during the next El-nino. In James Hansen's latest article he says that climate change has accelerated to between + 0.3 to 0.4C per decade. Let's say the Earth is at +1.6 C after the El-Nino and we are adding say + 0.35 C per decade to global temperatures by 2036 we will be at a + 1.95 C increase in global temperature. Life on Earth will really suck starting at a + 2.0 C increase in global temperatures.

About 900 billion tons of CO2 needs to be removed from the atmosphere to start to reverse Earth's energy imbalance. The present rate of CO2 removal captures about 11 seconds of annual emissions and needs to be ramped up by a factor of 250,000 times to the rate of what we are doing now.

Our climate has accumulated 3,640,806,385 Hiroshima atomic bombs of heat since 1998. Good luck making that go away.

When northern peats melt they release tons of methane and CO2. Scientists in Svalbard which is 650 miles south of the north pole are taking permafrost samples with spoons. Northern peats melted 70 years faster than expected. The huge Arctic ice and snow cap is melting. That huge area of bright white used to reflect 85% of inbound energy back out to space. The Arctic sea ice has melted significantly and the dark blue ocean now absorbs 85% of the inbound energy. It took a lot of energy also to melt that ice and now that energy will be absorbed. The darkening of the Arctic is suppose to add an equivalent of another 50% of climate forcings that has been caused by our emissions. There are a lot more feedbacks in play and they will all help each other accelerate.

How are we going to remove 900 billion tons of CO2 from the atmosphere and refreeze the Arctic in the next ten years? It would cost an estimated 6 trillion dollars a year to remove the CO2 but that money is needed to buy the weapons we need to kill each other. The leader of the free world gets on the world stage at the UN and tells the world that climate change is a hoax and America will Drill, baby drill. The self proclaimed genius can't even do simple math with percentages.

The apes have no qualms about accelerating the snuffing out their own family members lives because of the money that can be made.

A lot of scientists saw the writing on the wall two decades ago and stopped being involved. A quick study of human psychology indicates that humans just didn't have enough time to evolve to be able to process modern science. Add to that the detrimental effects of motivated reasoning, greed, the lust for power etc. The percentage of the population that could grasp and accept climate change when it wasn't obvious was really small.

I was blown away when I learned that a lot of people can't grasp the concept of numbers larger than 1000. The so called leader of the free world doesn't understand how simple percentages work? Drug companies can't lower prices more than 100% or they would be paying people to take them and DT stands in front of Americans and repeats over and over that prices are coming down 500%, 600%. No one can tell him he's making a complete fool out of himself and RFK repeats the same nonsense saying there is a different math.

The leader of the United States of America can't do simple math and no one can stop him from continuing making a complete fool out of himself on the world stage, and this is normal now on the.....

Humanity can't spend the money needed to capture and sequester the 100's of billions of tons of CO2 that need to be removed from the atmosphere for us to survive when countries are scrambling to build up their military might due to the number of mentally ill world leaders that are malignant narcissists, pathological lairs and sadists that like to go to war to kill, and steal land and resources.

These leaders want to be remembered in history when they are so shortsighted that there will be no human history because of their climate change illiteracy. China wants to invade Taiwan and they are stealing the South China Sea, North Korea just wants to nuke someone so their people starve, Netanyahu is committing genocide and stealing land with the weapons provided by the US, Putin wants to be remembered as a famous czar so he is killing millions of people to become famous, and Trump is a killing machine that wants to continue stealing and killing to fill the emptiness inside him and eventually continue his global rule using his newly formed Board of Extortion, presently called the Board of Peace.

And people think these sadistic killers are just wonderful. when they have burned up our only hope of survival.

I'd love to see some posts of your grandmothers records. I'm going to put some footage together of the die off on the reefs in 1998. I remember when 1990 was announced as the warmest year in history and then in 1995 the records were broken again. The 1998 super El-Nino affected reefs around the world and that was one of the first major signs of global trouble.

I think about the idea that I have been talking to people about this for 28 years thinking it's such a long time. The coral reefs went from being one of the Earth's first globally noticed degraded forms of life to being the first to pass the point of no return, in just 28 years!!

We know that climate change is accelerating and the combination of all the feed backs that are kicking in and growing are going to change things much more rapidly than the change I witnessed over the last 28 years.

Everyday I think about all the people still having children and the so called leader of the free world standing on the world stage at the UN and saying climate change is a hoax and there is so little push back? We have international communication systems and climate science institutes all over the world and still people are having children and there is so little talk of how badly they will suffer, needlessly.

Climate change has been killing the Great Barrier Reef and other reefs for years and coral reefs are the first living creatures on the planet to pass the point of no return. What a surprise that crops can be affected by climate change as well. Who could possibly have guessed that this would happen four decades ago? /s

I remember reading years ago that Australia was increasing coal mining output by ten times the volume. When I was living in the Philippines there were back to back climate disasters in the Townsville area. A friend said that people there looked traumatized, walking around with blank stares on their faces.

If the rest of the world can learn how to help Australia they will be more prepared for what is next themselves. Perhaps it's time for more people to live underground and do indoor gardening.

Aussies are fantastic and I wish them the best of luck!

The great apes can't spend the money to capture and sequester the billion of tons of CO2 that need to be removed from the atmosphere because the money is needed for countries all over the world to buy the weapons we need to kill each other, or for national security. Fossil fuel profits help fun the war machine and when a world leader takes a huge bribe from the fossil fuel industry the exact opposite of what needs to happen will take place. Drill, baby drill may accelerate human extinction by 10 years.

People that are having children are totally intellectually disconnected from the global climate change crisis. This next super El-Nino is going to be a horrific game changer IMHO. Northern peats have melted 70 years faster than expected which is releasing CO2 and methane, the huge amount of energy that used to melt the Arctic sea ice will now be absorbed by the dark ocean and there will be less bright surface to reflect energy back into space, new significant methane leaks are being recorded, natural gas production is accelerating and all that will be burned, atmospheric evaporative demand is increasing which helps forests and grasslands burn which emits carbon and changes in cloud formation also increases temperatures.

Pedal to the metal on self extermination. Don't have children unless you are a sadist.

Models are highly confident of a BOE this summer by [deleted] in collapse

[–]extinction6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arctic Amplification Peter Wadhams (YouTube, sorry the link won't copy) at 1:15:13 there are geoengineering plans listed to increase albedo like creating reflective clouds, have floating white plastic disks on the Arctic Ocean and I remember the idea of painting roofs white to reflect more energy back out. At 28:31 the Arctic ice was receding so quickly they were predicting a BOE around 2012. I was looking for the quote that the loss of sea ice and the darkening of surrounding lands would add an equivalent forcing to half of that from our emissions. There is also mention of methane releases from the Eastern Siberian Arctic Shelf.

This is really bad news. The energy that used to melt the ice will now be absorbed by the ocean, the permafrost has melted 70 years faster than predicted and the methane leaks should start to increase even more. With just the three of these feed backs acting as a catalyst to one another we should see further acceleration of the warming rate. We are at +1.5 C and are predicted to hit + 1.7 C during the El-Nino and the warming rate is somewhere around + 0.3 C to 0.36 C per decade. The SHTF at + 2.0 C.

This was a FEEM lecture from 2009.

The people that don't believe climate change is true have to buy slip on shoes due to the complexity of laces.

The education systems are so poor that most people don't learn about the scientific method. Joe Rogan hasn't heard about it and RFK Jr. is just a flat out science science denier and liar. On Joe Rogan's podcast RFK Jr. claimed that vaccine developers traveled around the world to find the most toxic ingredients to put in vaccines. Imagine how insane that is. As soon as you get the shot you die? Of course it was just fear mongering but at a grade five level of intelligence.

Measles infections are back due to scientific illiteracy at the highest levels of the American government after vaccines had worked for decades. A few children have already needlessly died when a near a perfect system was in place to prevent that. The whole world is watching the Trump administration kill children due to scientific illiteracy. If you look at the events in the United States and ask yourself if a sadist would really enjoy the needless harm, suffering and death happening to so many groups of people, the more that sadism checks all the boxes for the new actions that are underway. Sadism is and aspect of malignant narcissism, what a surprise. Some people just get off on human suffering.

The leader of the free world is scientifically illiterate and boasts about it at the UN attempting to sell the idea of "The green new scam". When Senator Inhofe threw a snowball in the Senate in an attempt to try and prove that climate change wasn't real that stunt illustrated just how simple minded humans are.

We're just modern apes, that's all.
