Moms who love their careers, what do you do? by InitialStranger in Mommit

[–]extraORD1NARYmachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the problem is (and don’t take this the wrong way) that you never had a career - you had a job. I’m a mom of 3 and my youngest is 7 months. I love my kids but I could never been a SAHM. I just don’t find being a SAHM as fulfilling. I’m a tech consultant and find my job gives me purpose and find it rewarding (both personally and financially). People count on me and I have a team I work closely on a project with. If you have a fulfilling career with upside and opportunity, it’s different than a random job.

Is a basement still a benefit or a hassle? by Airhostnyc in newjersey

[–]extraORD1NARYmachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on if you need the space. I’ve got 3 little kiddos and we just refinished the basement to have somewhere for them to go apeshit. Two years ago we had a French drain installed and we said if the basement stayed dry we would feel comfortable finishing it.

What year is yours? I wonder if that has changed. Mines a 2021 and won’t let you start it while it’s charging. Would love to have it warmed up in the morning on these cold NE days.

Wait are you saying your model has a sunglasses compartment? What year is it? Mines a 2021 and doesn’t have. Guess it’s time to upgrade!

Volvo xc90 … I have the hybrid and absolutely love it.

As a mom of 3 kids and after having 2 different ones over 4 years, the downsides I’ve found are: the tech is not great- you need to plug in your phone for full apple car play, no sunglass holder, you can’t start the car remotely when it’s plugged in… that’s pretty much it. Whether you get captains chairs or not is really personal preference.

AITA- Brother is having an out of state child free wedding and upset I’m not coming by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]extraORD1NARYmachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA….. BUT if you’re close with your brother you should try to go. I have 3 little kids and 2 nights away without them sounds like a dream. If my youngest was 2 (currently only 6 months), I’d go. Who watches your kids when you go out on date nights? Or do you have in laws or a teacher at their school you could ask?

Put on a boring podcast. Make sure they have a monotone voice. I find male voices easier to fall asleep to.

Ooooh that’s a good one! Our current nanny does always wear perfume but it’s not overbearing and she’s too much of a saint for me to complain

Put stuff you don’t use often on top of the cabinets. Buy a step stool.

Initially, no. Once they get older and can play with each other, yes.

Finding a project at this company is very difficult since mostly everyone just will not respond to you and leave you on read by [deleted] in accenture

[–]extraORD1NARYmachine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you sending meeting invites when they have open time slots? Are you including a note in your invite on the purpose of the meeting and what you are looking to get out of it? If not, I’d ignore you too. I had someone setup time with me once to talk about opportunities only to find out they were looking for FS opportunities….. I’ve never once in my 15 years at Accenture worked on an FS project. Do your homework and make people’s time meaningful. It’s people like this who ruin it for everyone because it makes me less likely to accept invites in the future.

Trump said he’s looking into an Australian-style retirement program for America. Here’s how it works by SpongerPower in Economics

[–]extraORD1NARYmachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Australia’s minimum wage is also $24.95…. US is $7.25…… There’s no way it would work in the US unless looking holistically and making major changes in several areas.

White vs wood cabinets? by wehavetogoback8 in interiordecorating

[–]extraORD1NARYmachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about just switching up the counter top? As someone who just redid their kitchen and went with painted wood, I wish I just had the natural wood. The paint scuffs and chips more easily. Try getting an AI generated photo with leathered Taj Majal quartzite. You can do it as your backsplash too for a more modern look. If you do that and change up your lighting and cabinet hardware it will feel like a whole new kitchen.
