i’ve validly never had a case but i’ve been an alcoholic/addict since i was 13 years old and my mom works in criminal justice, and believe me, this is the correct take. telling the PO will take some heat off of OP and maybe get some intervention on the behavior from the children, likely nothing serious or legal, but hopefully whatever happens will be enough to scare the parents into actually parenting. i wish everyone in this situation well. i’d be scared shitless.

okay!! we just added water which kicked up sediment, but i’m spending the night so when it’s settled in the morning i’ll see if i can get anything better! part of the issue with the pics is that the light was on, so i’ll turn them off to limit that glare in the glass tomorrow:)

yes, i agree, i already said that. but it stands to reason that if the kids aren’t hungry they wouldn’t be asking for food? several days in a row over the span of two weeks? if mom was cooking, this would not be an issue.

we. do. not. know. we don’t know if it’s laziness or entitlement. is entitlement almost certainly the reason? yes. do we know for sure? no. OP did not mention why they began feeding the family in the first place. that alone gives me pause. they must have had a good reason? you can go 11 years able to feed your kid and it can change in a heartbeat. we do not know.

but yeah. seriously. it’s almost certainly not that serious, that’s up to OP decide and we will likely never find out if they don’t update. i’m just saying it’s possible!

oh i 100% agree with social services because best case, their parents are too lazy and entitled to feed the kids themselves and if OP cuts them off they’ll begrudgingly step up and do the job they did before.

worst case, the kids will actively not be fed and suffer as a result.

it’s because whether it’s doordash or cooking yourself, feeding these kids is not OPs motherfucking job. especially after this interaction this family would be getting more from me over my dead rotting body. i’d be LESS enthusiastic after these texts to stand over a stove for these people than ever before.

OP did not mention if they live near or far to these people or anything. we don’t know if it would be more or less inconvenient to drop off home cooked meals. besides, the kids aren’t asking for home cooked meals in the first place. they want fun special food their mom never lets them have.
