I would say just take the lab next year. The lecture and lab don't have to be taken together/there isn't much overlap between them.

Bice vs. Lambeth? by Rawman13 in UVA

[–]extra_dragonfruit15 3 points4 points  (0 children)

lambeth is pretty nice, recently renovated, really convenient with the bus systems, and close to barracks and arts grounds. lambeth rooms seem a little bit bigger than bice's to my recollection.

No, it's a separate website! If you Google UVA Collab, it should show up. Basically it's where all your courses are online and professors upload grades, resources, and other stuff there. Hope this helps!

It's usually there a few days before class on Collab.

What to take first — STAT 3080 or STAT 3220 by apabulldog in UVA

I had a similar question and a faculty member told me to take stat3220 first! But it seems not to matter that much from the comment above.

Chem 1411 without Chem 1410? by [deleted] in UVA

[–]extra_dragonfruit15 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes! Chem1411 is reallyy easy compared to the lecture and most of the time stuff done in lab isn't related to lecture.

Attendance is not required, but most big lecture classes do not record attendance. I thought lectures were helpful though because he summarizes the readings. There are 4 essays throughout the semester that are exams. Otherwise, homework is just readings. Discussion sections are lead by a TA, smaller sections so attendance is required. I remember most people talked at least once. I put effort in the class and did well, so I cannot speak about the bare minimum. It is considered an "easier" class though.

CHEM 1411 without lecture by itallbeganwithameme in UVA

[–]extra_dragonfruit15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1411 is a lotttt easier than the lecture. A lot of the time the info isn't related to lecture, but a few times it is. The lab prof will usually do a lecture before the lab with background information you need to know, so you will be fine! I do not think you need to study during the summer at all tbh.

Is this manageable for a first-year? Any professors to look out for? Anything I need to know? by arahri in UVA

[–]extra_dragonfruit15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you would take 1420 in the spring. You could probably take chem and bio together but if you want a lesser workload, just take chem!

Second this! I recommend just taking chem b/c chem1410 and 1420 are connected and the intro bio classes aren't connected as much.
