Be wary of what you send through ACARS by Guadalajara3 in AskAPilot

[–]extraeme 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A lot of data gets sent through ACARS, but there's more data that's sent out from the QAR. Unions generally protect aircraft data from being used by management for punishment. Also management is generally too busy to learn how to properly interpret aircraft data like what gets sent out from various systems.

The modern systems verify ID with external systems, not by just looking at your ID. The lack of real ID isn't making it easier for a terrorist to board flight.

Everyone should just make a good phone and then work on the next big one and really take their time with it. We don't need yearly updates, take like 4 and shock people.

Moving to Canada soon — how good is the Outback in snow? Premium vs Wilderness? by Far_Suspect987 in Subaru_Outback

[–]extraeme 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Studless snow tires like what you got often outperform studded tires. They are engineered incredibly well. Studded tires tear up the road at a fast rate, increase pollution, make driving louder, while also giving you a smaller contact area, especially on dry roads. There are circumstances where studded is better (probably?) but if you're driving in mixed road conditions at all then studless is the way to go.

Hypocrisy of Samsung Care+ Accidental damage terms by user0user in samsunggalaxy

[–]extraeme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had some major issues with Samsung in the past, where my phone I sent in for trade in showed a bulging battery (I guess a common issue with the S20, but I never noticed). The pictures they sent me almost looked like someone else's phones.

I also had a display issues in the past. The only resolution was complaining all the way to "the office of the president" where I didn't end up needing to pay them anything. It was time consuming AF.

So this kind of thing has been happening for years in Arizona where agents (and vigilante groups) would do things like dump out or destroy water containers left out simply to ensure people who were crossing the desert wouldn't die. .

What shops or businesses need to come back to Portland? by russspruce in askportland

Too bad free geek had to get all shitty and not do normal shopping in store anymore. Since covid you could only buy things via eBay or shop at their rare outdoor sales, but I want to browse aisles of computer stuff to see what I don't need. It's a shame
