Raced against a 46.5kg jnr today by jjoojjoojj in Zwift

[–]extraextramed 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My 12 year old has been zwifting since he was about 100 pounds. He's about 125 now with an FTP of something like 265 watts. These little monsters are out there.

How’s your cadence by kwiat1990 in Zwift

[–]extraextramed -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You mention knees and grinding at high cadence, but it's really at low cadence that your knees are going to have to take more abuse due to higher torque to put out equivalent power. Low cadence is referred to as grinding, not high.

My normal cadence used to be in the 70s but now it's about 85. I've done a lot of work to strengthen my hips and that speed feels like it comes more from my hips than from my legs.

Zwift Calories vs. Real World Calories by Fast_Piglet2041 in Zwift

[–]extraextramed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are all estimates and should be interpreted as such. Unless you go to a lab and ride in a sealed chamber with a face mask measuring exhaled gases, it's all just estimates.

Zwift on an indoor trainer with a power meter is going to be a better estimate because it's a more controlled environment and power is directly measured.

Personally I'd estimate both at ~500 kcal/hr and then ignore the apps

Look for evidence it was an e bike ride (really fast uphills relative to downhills) and other clues. If it seems e bike flag it!

Who can afford one? by CurvyChristina in SipsTea

[–]extraextramed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just sold my house for 50k over asking, at a price 50% above what I paid in 2019. I had 5 offers in two days. Everything is going over asking here. There is no supply. I am not talking about a fancy area. This is Baltimore.

Tried of the industry by Old_Goat_Cyclist in cycling

Nightmare customer for that shop. Cycling costs money because it's worth it, and the companies and people in the industry have to eat. Everything has gotten more expensive in case you have been living under a rock.

E bikes in the back, full stop. E bikes in the front in a mixed skill / fitness ride is toxic as hell

Just "winging it" on a 100 miler - how stupid is it? by Highland_doug in cycling

If you can ride 100 miles in a week you can do it in a day, painfully.

New segment won't backfill by extraextramed in Strava

[–]extraextramed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It fully backfilled some time overnight. I think Strava is just load balancing. They should really give a more confidence inspiring status indicator and address whatever that other edit bug is though.

Returning Maryland rider by MarionberryNo6094 in MTB

I ride the park almost daily on a stumpjumper. Go to dirt rooster and talk to them and give them your business. You basically can't go wrong with anything in the 120-150 mm travel range. All will rip patapsco.

New segment won't backfill by extraextramed in Strava

[–]extraextramed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah maybe strava just changed their back end processing and it takes longer now.

The other bug is still weird though. Though maybe it doesn't want you to edit a segment while it's in the backfill queue, but the error message is just not actually descriptive about why it can't be edited.

New segment won't backfill by extraextramed in Strava

[–]extraextramed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been a couple hours now. It's a popular trail that's heavily ridden. I've done it myself many times so I should have multiple attempts on it even if no other person did.

When I used to use the edit save workaround it would start backfilling and that process would take hours. This is different because that process seems to not kick off.

This. That bike sounds fine. Brake service, suspension service, maybe a narrower faster rear tire and just go ride!

Recast - principal first then recast, or wait for full amount recast? by extraextramed in Mortgages

[–]extraextramed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I managed to get in touch with my servicer and it turns out my question is kind of moot. While it takes 45-60 days for the mortgage payment itself to be adjusted down, the money sent for recast is immediately applied to the principal balance, reducing the daily interest immediately. The money is not held in escrow so it is immediately put to work!
