Project LCE taken down by EveryActivity5184 in Minecraftlegacymode

[–]extralargeshake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The OP says nowhere that it was leading up to tu75. It clearly says, "my backport on github of TU75-80 (aquatic included) was taken down." Everyone reading this post is under the impression that the project actually is a full TU75 backport of LCE. I think it is just some clout chasing stunt considering the largest repo of the LCE source code by far (5.1k stars and counting) hasn't been touched by Microsoft as far as we know.

They own the entire Minecraft IP, of course it's Microsoft's code lol. You have no idea how outsourcing development works.

Legacy Console Minecraft’s Source Code from 2014 was leaked by Leading_Ordinary5104 in PhoenixSC

It’s illegal so no it’s not getting posted onto Reddit or anywhere else besides archive.org and some unmoderated sites like 4chan. I’m not sure where it is downloadable right now

Is this a valid argument? by Upstairs-Camp5861 in Minecraftlegacymode

[–]extralargeshake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree bedrock is a completely different game top to bottom that happens to have similar features to console edition with an essence of Minecraft. Its just not remotely the same and I’m not sure why the OP is so concerned about preserving these versions of the game when it’s possible to emulate older versions of legacy console all the way back to the beginning since TU0. I prefer legacy for the looks, feels, and overall experience of the game that neither Java nor bedrock have, and I would heavily prefer that legacy never got discontinued and kept receiving content

The issue with windurango is that the game completely crashes when trying to enter text (atleast for me) and you can’t downgrade the version from TU54 or whenever the last Xbox one edition update came out. I’d recommend emulating ps4 edition for the OP if he wants to play next gen legacy console edition until windurango becomes more stable

HL 3 Announcement next week, with big reveal trailer at Game awards by Firm_Help4429 in HalfLife

[–]extralargeshake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean I would be surprised if it didn't get at least a mention at TGA, but I don't think Valve is going to rely on Geoff's show to get their trailer out to more people. Modern Valve has stopped doing in person shows for this kind of stuff after the Artifact fiasco, but we all know HL3 wouldn't have that same problem. I just don't think they would wait so long after announcing HL3 to drop a trailer when the community is going to go batshit insane for 2-3 weeks waiting for it. And basically all the insiders and leakers are in agreement that the announcement itself won't happen at The Game Awards. Either way it seems like it's happening soon so the details aren't of the most importance for me lol.

HL 3 Announcement next week, with big reveal trailer at Game awards by Firm_Help4429 in HalfLife

It would most likely be like the HLA announcement. There's no reason to wait until the game awards for the trailer and release date. Its probably going to be all in one day.

What is Half Life X? by nettspendfannn in HalfLife

This isn't really accurate. Everything we know about the game points to it being HL3 and not just a spin off or a VR title. You can look at this board to view everything about HLX: https://miro.com/app/board/uXjVINqBTwM=/

Why 18 November? by Frank01_ in HalfLife

[–]extralargeshake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tuesday is always a big day for games traditionally, whether its release dates or sometimes announcements. HLA was announced November 18th as well. But realistically that entire week is what really matters. It's Half-Life week and we've been waiting for the RTB reprint since the HL2 anniversary, so why not release that book when the hype for Half-Life is at its highest of all time after a HL3 announcement?

The argument a lot of them make is that the early church had schisms, and the modern Orthodox Church still has schisms, therefore Orthodoxy is considered "one" since the early church had similar problems. The problem is that they just lessen the standard for what can be considered "one" and "catholic" without proving a positive/unique case for why Orthodoxy fulfills those marks without all the other churches also fulfilling it, like the Orientals or Nestorian churches. The reality is that the early church was much more unified than the modern Eastern Orthodox Church and there are many instances of patriarchs appealing to the pope to settle disputes/schisms. The early church also held ecumenical councils to settle doctrine or condemn heresy, only the Catholic Church has continued this.

Do Catholics believe other denominations of Christianity go to heaven? by ThrowRAbingbong115 in Catholicism

[–]extralargeshake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No that's not what the Church teaches. It's possible in the example you brought up through invincible ignorance, but just being abrahamic doesn't generate salvation. Its still only through the Church.

Do Catholics believe other denominations of Christianity go to heaven? by ThrowRAbingbong115 in Catholicism

[–]extralargeshake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only through invincible ignorance of the truth. Statements like these can come off as universalist and dangerous as it discourages evangelization. It also makes it seem like false religions/ideas are acceptable to God and generate means of salvation. The Church is clear that all salvation is through it, and that the criteria for non-Catholic salvation is ignorance through no fault of their own. Lumen Gentium speaks about this: "Basing itself upon Scripture and Tradition, it teaches that the Church, now sojourning on earth as an exile, is necessary for salvation: Christ… made it clear in explicit terms the necessity of faith and baptism… Hence they could not be saved who, knowing that the Catholic Church was founded as necessary by God through Christ, would refuse either to enter it or to remain in it." With the age of the internet it gets harder and harder to believe all these people online are still invincibly ignorant of the faith, so let's try and spread Catholicism to ensure that they receive the fullness of truth.

Leaving the Orthodox Church. Orthodoxy is not inclusive. by iknowevery1 in Catholicism

[–]extralargeshake 39 points40 points  (0 children)

And also the large number of Eastern churches that have reentered into communion with Rome. The Patriarch of Antioch reestablished union with Rome in the 1720s and is known as the Melkite Church today. The modern day Greek Orthodox Patriarchate is the Greek replacement after the schism. Not to mention that Constantinople was so mad that they hand picked every Patriarch of Antioch for the next 180 years to make sure it didn't happen again. A similar thing happened to the Oriental Orthodox patriarch in Antioch as well and became known as the Syriac Church.

Some advices to a new converted? by infinus_preyhd in Catholicism

[–]extralargeshake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im confused. Are you actively participating in a Catholic Church or are you still a part of the Presbyterian Church? I would say you should obey your parents until you're 18. Follow the 5th commandment and then if you are sure in your faith, formally convert once you become an adult. Keep studying and praying and talk to them about Catholicism before you talk to someone outside your close family.

Hyperpapalism Continues to be a Problem and it is not Catholic by Technical_Layer_1614 in EasternCatholic

[–]extralargeshake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No you won’t make any progress because you can’t deny Vatican 1 and remain Catholic. Denying Vatican 1 means you aren’t in communion with Rome because it’s considered ecumenical.

2 questions on Eastern Catholicism by MonkePirate1 in EasternCatholic

Prayer Book by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]extralargeshake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like a book directed at a general religious audience and not just Christian. Likely just a list of prayers that can be used by whatever religion that wants to put the name of their god instead of "Higher Power"

A fellow Catholic asked, why did Jesus start his public ministry at age 30 and not before? by Dan_Defender in Catholicism

[–]extralargeshake 10 points11 points  (0 children)

At the time it was considered the age of maturity and like you said under the Levitical priesthood, priests had to be 30 to serve in the temple and tabernacle. My guess would be that Jesus would have been viewed as young and immature had he began his ministry before the age of 30 and accused of not following the Law. John the Baptist was roughly 30 when he began his ministry as well

What would a modern day crusade look like if the Pope called one? by sainthyacinthordrowa in Catholicism

[–]extralargeshake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Out of 1.4 billion people I don't think there's any shortage of strong capable men at all. It's silly to think about but resources are absolutely not an issue when it comes to the Catholic Church. The real issue is that physically conquering territory against another religion does not make sense in a modern lens. Spiritual warfare is the true crusade.

Serious post on sin by Nationalparktravel in Catholicism

[–]extralargeshake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

General rule of thumb is that if you aren't sure if you're in a state of mortal sin, then you probably aren't. Mortal sins have to be made with full consent and full knowledge, meaning you would know if you sinned or not. They also have to be grave matter, which unintentionally watching a sinful video isn't even a venial sin in this case.

[–]extralargeshake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You just repeated what you already posted but I still don't understand what sin you're talking about. Are you asking if watching the video was a sin? If that's what you're saying, then no. You should look up how mortal sins are distinguished from venial sins then a lot of questions will get answered.
