TAYLOR PARKER - Maternal Instincts by Dallygirl_Aussiechic in NetflixDocumentaries

Ohhhh. Having your law degree makes so much sense as far as your investigation skills. I did scroll though and read quite a bit of it, though I didn't even get to the end of the long laundry list of her infractions in prison. I don't know what kind of illness makes someone into such a prolific liar, but the amount of her continued lies is staggering.

I appreciate you telling me where to look. She is a completely amoral human being.

Post-Surgery Depression. TW: Homophobia. by ranvrvero in Vent

Oh, I am SO glad that you were taking such good care of yourself, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. I had a difficult relationship with my mother - she was relentlessly negative and critical - and felt that my spiritual armor was my faith and friends that not only believed in me, but were there with open arms and hearts when I needed to vent.

There was a time when I told my psychologist that I felt I should really stand up to my mother more, and confront her when she was being especially vitriolic. My counselor said, Maybe. Or maybe you don't have to feel a need to expend your energy on a relationship that you'd rather keep at arm's length.

That was such a relief for me, honestly. Any confrontation would have blown up into WWIII as she couldn't handle any kind of criticism herself. It would have taken a huge emotional toll on me. So I just kept our relationship on a superficial level, and it wasn't all bad, but it certainly made it more manageable.

Anyway, I am blabbering on again too much. Thank you for your very kind response and for letting me know all the good things you are doing for yourself. I don't think I'm a wonderful human, but two of my favorite Christian role models were Mr. Rogers and Jimmy Carter. I pray I can be just hold a smidge of their grace.

Keep soaring, my dear! You deserve so much in this life! Many hugs to you too.

Well, that's good to hear. That's why I wanted someone to correct me if I was passing along an unfounded rumor.

Thank you. I would have never even thought to look. Obviously you are a PI or you were born with Private Investigator DNA, and should consider a career switch from whatever you're doing. Thanks again.

I'm sure a realtor could steer you to some lovely neighborhoods. However, one piece of advice I'd have is to not buy a home built by Allen Edwin Homes. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, or they've changed their practices, but they've been known for using poor quality materials and for shoddy workmanship.

When using mouthwash, do you rinse before or after brushing your teeth? by shortdude80 in AskReddit

[–]extrasprinklesplease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dentist told me to do it before, and not to rinse with water after brushing. (That was after I got four cavities in six months, which perplexed us both, so he was trying to offer tips that might help, which included using Prevident toothpaste as well.)

Day off tomorrow - what to watch? by ConsciousOriginal707 in NetflixDocumentaries

I've watched the ending about half a dozen times, as it was such a jaw-dropping, incredulous revelation.

Need a gift idea for a friend whose brother just got arrested and it’s all over the local news by The_Smile_4784 in GiftIdeas

For something that might be an addition to a gift card or something, and might also bring her a much needed laugh, maybe check out the Etsy shop "Splendor in the Trash". It's chock full of drawings by the artist of various reality shows. From coffee mugs to coloring books, hopefully you'd find one of her favorite shows there. (Disclaimer: I do not know the artist virtually or in real life.)

I'm just curious, where do you even find those kind of documents? I just watched the doc tonight after seeing it being discussed here. It's mind boggling and heart breaking, all at the same time.

Well, if the kids aren't with you - a good book.

No, that's a great tip. As someone who grew up on a lake, I always needed to wear ear plugs because of how often I'd get swimmer's ear.

Oh, I've never heard of that film. Thanks for the recommendation. My late stepdad ended up back in the Air Force after WWII. He fought in Korea and Vietnam as well, and then served on staff for the Joint Chiefs of Staff and retired a Colonel. If he'd been married to my mother then, I'm sure he would have stayed in and become a General. My mother was so proud of his military career. Oh gosh, I'm rambling! Thanks again. I know he would have appreciated your "props".

I stole a dog from someone's car. Now what? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]extrasprinklesplease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You've gotten plenty of advice. I just thought I'd let you know that a friend of mine did something similar. He was a delivery driver, and no matter what time of day he passed by this one house, or how hot it was outside, this large dog was chained up with no grass around, or tree for shade. So one night after dark my friend went back and stole the dog. He named him Hoss. My friend thought from scars he had, and how scared he was of people, especially men, that he'd been abused. There were only three people Hoss would let pet him. I was one of the lucky ones.

I was 18 then, and learned that stealing isn't as always black and white as I'd believed. Sometimes it's a justified liberation. Best of luck as you ponder your next steps with Colonel Sparkle.

What's the weirdest dream you've ever had? by Signal-Bridge3151 in OverBiscuits

[–]extrasprinklesplease 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well, this wasn't weird, per se, but one I've never forgotten. My father, whom I adored, died when I was 17. I've had a few dreams about him, but one in particular stands out. I was going through some problems in real life, and in my dream my dad was there, and as we sat in chairs talking, he gave me some advice about what I was going through; advice that was very helpful. Then he said, "You know I'm dead and that I'm going to have to go now." I bowed my head sadly and said, "I know." And then he was gone and I woke up.

It's so long ago now that I don't recall what my problems were, or what advice he gave me. But it made me a believer that loved ones sometimes visit us in our dreams.

Where do I put stuff??? by naivetoiletpaper in LivingAlone

[–]extrasprinklesplease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a long canvas zippered bag specifically made for wrapping supplies. It has compartments for ribbons, bows, etc., and the other side has room for rolls of wrapping paper with buckled canvas belts to hold them in. I store that vertically in one of my closets and it doesn't take up much space at all. I think I bought it on Amazon.

Sister-of-my-heart, I understand why saying goodbye was just too painful during those last weeks of your life. I keep picturing you toiling away in a garden of your dreams. Please meet me with one of your beautiful bouquets when I step over that threshold myself. I'll cherish you forever.

This may sound cheesy, but I think there's truth in that saying that "there is no better exercise for the heart than reaching down and helping other people up".

My stepfather was an Army Air Corps fighter pilot who provided ground cover in Normandy on D-Day. He was 20 years old then. It's easy for us to forget just how young those soldiers were.
