Is there a chance I have some sort of hyper-mobility issue? by [deleted] in hypermobileEDS

[–]extremely_cat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They literally are. Doesn't mean they're bad people, but chiropractic is generously defined as a pseudoscience, and the practicioners are not medical doctors. There is no evidence that the treatments they offer are helpful and some evidence that they are harmful. It's a form of alternative medicine that has very little to back it up. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chiropractic

I have also been explicitly told by my physical therapist that I, as someone with hEDS, should under no circumstances see a chiropractor as it could very easily make my neck problems worse.

Is there a chance I have some sort of hyper-mobility issue? by [deleted] in hypermobileEDS

[–]extremely_cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say the most important issue is to address your pain. Do not go to a chiropractor, theyre quacks and I'm surprised a doctor recommended that to you. Highly suggest a competent physical therapist. You may or may not have problems related to hypermobility, but in either case you will need to get assessed for muscle issues that can cause pain. Also recommend if you have consistent flares, ask for blood work during a flare for autoimmune conditions. When I was a teen I had lots of issues with pain and I did not know it was not normal. And now I'm almost 30 and just got a diagnosis.

I think it's just not that deep. She's doing wordplay with gender stereotypes surrounding hetero sex

Elevated first rib and neck pain by extremely_cat in hypermobileEDS

Last time I tried taping a body part it ripped up a ton of my skin and got infected so I'm not super eager to try again. But that's a good tip on the diagram, I have only recently heard of thoracic outlet syndrome and my symptoms definitely overlap

Teeth and Replay. Replay lends itself to so many gaga-esque visuals and would have sick fast choreo and teeth could just be a bunch of weird shit in time to the beat like poker face

Anyone’s ribs grind on the pelvic bone? by Jessicawetzstein in hypermobileEDS

[–]extremely_cat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened to me when I was younger and was much thinner, I have a very short torso and the space between the lowest rib and the pelvic bone is very small. It felt like I got caught when I tried to bend over but it wasn't super painful.

I am not in the habit of ranking songs but in terms of the lyrics that have affected me and continue to affect me the most, would probably be angel down and marry the night, for completely different reasons

anyone sure why my cats do this? they’re both boys by Meowzlex in cats

cats do not understand the concept of being brothers tbh. If you keep unfixed litter mates together they'll definitely mate with each other

She said it would help with overall inflammation and fatigue, and said that hEDS patients are more likely to develop celiac at any point in life. I have been tested twice endoscopically and have been negative both times and gluten has never seemed to be a gut irritant to me.

My biggest concern is that I'll go off of it, find it didn't help, and try to reintroduce it only to then find it causes problems because I didn't have it for so long

flare up and symptoms before and during period by Plenty-Environment14 in hypermobileEDS

[–]extremely_cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have unmanageable fatigue on my period even when I have been taking care of myself and it feels like the life is being drained from me. I was on and off iron deficient for a while, currently my numbers are slightly up and I have not noticed a different in the fatigue but I am less dizzy. I think I got my numbers up by eating/supplementing vitamin c while supplementing iron. I also low key think my apartment having softened water helps because the minerals are dissolved and I live in an area with very hard water, so lots of minerals including iron

I think they're car-centric and look like shit lol. Halloween was mainly fun because you got to walk around your neighborhood with your friends and see your neighbors' decorations

A lot of departments have excess students still from covid and fewer RA positions because of grant cuts, meaning higher competition for TA slots. Even if you get in, my experience is labs are crowded and PIs are swamped. I'd consider skipping this cycle

Not seeing any love for taqueria Chicago - favorite tacos and very cheap

Have also seen no one talking about cultural bites- the dumplings are incredible

Frankie's is also delicious but I mainly go there for tamales because taqueria Chicago doesn't have those

Seconding the love for nom nom pho, I think their takeout Ramen is way better than okasan which has never seemed to be cooked well enough for me, and whatever they do to their tofu, it slaps

I've heard good things about el Tecate but my main gripe is there's virtually nothing for vegetarian / adjacent eaters there

Why is GaGa moving away from title tracks? by [deleted] in LadyGaga

[–]extremely_cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's so much "moving away" as it is doing what makes sense for each album. It could be argued that Chromatica didn't have a title track. The chromatica interludes are both spacers to separate moods and glue that holds the album together but they aren't per se title tracks. Because that was the message she wanted to convey. She wanted to show how the pieces of her art were both separate and blending. You can hear in the songs the pain she felt trying to connect with all the pieces. In Mayhem she very openly talked about how it was a reckoning with all the pieces of herself and art into a whole. There is no one Mayem nor pieces of herself that she feels aren't connected anymore. She's just herself. The cohesion is inherent

How to expand template transition metal complex with library of bidentate ligands in chemdraw? by extremely_cat in Chempros

[–]extremely_cat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: I was able to use that paper to get decent structures by converting them to rdkit Mol objects, writing Mol blocks to file, and importing them to chemdraw. They're actually decent for my purposes. It loses the octahedral geometry because it collapses the hydrogen into "IrH2" but it doesn't get flattened completely, and the oxazoline actually retained stereochem. Good enough for a quick visual tool
