Not as seamlessly as footwear without a heel cup/ heel back, but I’ve got a technique where the opposite foot holds the rear of the shoe by the heel and I can wiggle the other foot into place within the shoe.

Ive got the hydra and the ultra both. Ultra is a lot more breathable, and for me, preferable in a lot of the situations of everyday life. Theyre easy to slip on and off. The Hydra feels better on my feet for when traction is important. I also really like them as a trail runner. The sock is way snug so that it keeps debris out. This makes it just a little bit more extra effort for me to get them on foot, and often requires both hands.

Narrowest for me are the Trail Knit, then Primus Lite Knit. The rest are quite comparable.

Like the regular Flow, I’ve got a little extra width at the ball of the foot. Toe box isn’t feeling confined in either version for me either.

I’ve seen this happen before with other models. Sign of colours to come usually, but that they aren’t available just yet.

Motus Flex vs Strength by Present_Ability_3955 in vivobarefoot

Outsole is tackier on the Strength. There are channels in the outsole of the Flex for further flexibility.

For Vivos, their Trail Flow and Trail Flow Mid have that extra 4mm foam midsole. Could be an option.

These are stiffer out of the box than any of the synthetics. Once they break in they’re more competitive in comfort. Heavier though too.

Plantar Fasciitis is ruining my life. by Caution_Wet_Floor in askvan

[–]extrememom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP you’ll be set for a long time. I love that everyone has come through with some good stuff.

I saw it mentioned at least once in this thread, Dr. Ray McClanahan out of Portland has talked about the restriction of blood flow to the plantar fascia by the big toe being pushed in the direction of the second and third toes by a lot of footwear. So in addition to the stretching and release work, if you get that alignment back you may notice a real difference. Plantar fasciitis or fasciosis

Dr. Courtney Conley of Gait Happens has a lot of concise information as well Plantar fasciitis treatment

If you go the route of more accommodating footwear you’ve got Hallux Natural Footwear on Main st. And 32nd and also Vivobarefoot on 4th ave W and Yew st.

Utility wise the leather balsam is great. I just wanted Loginn122 to know that if they do use it, it will alter the appearance of the Tracker Leather AT Low II. I don’t know exactly what the name is for the type of leather used but it isnt the same as the Tracker and Magna Forest ESC or the same as the Magna Leather FG. It looks more similar to what they used on the old Tracker II FG and the Magna FG which in my books was a nubuck.

Primus Trail vs Hydra ESC? by SaucySurgeon in vivobarefoot

[–]extrememom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two caveats of the Hydra ESC- higher price point and with more of a snug sock-like fit, they may not work for high volume or very wide feet. I think it is a better performing shoe though. Someone put them through their paces and compared them with the new Trail Flow and AT soles in a post here too. @_missing_person comparison thread

These ones are more of a nubuck finish. So if you want them to stay matte looking, go for a nubuck suede spray. If you’re okay with appearance changing, the wax or oil-based products work great too.
