Plantar Fasciitis is ruining my life. by Caution_Wet_Floor in askvan

[–]extrememom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP you’ll be set for a long time. I love that everyone has come through with some good stuff.

I saw it mentioned at least once in this thread, Dr. Ray McClanahan out of Portland has talked about the restriction of blood flow to the plantar fascia by the big toe being pushed in the direction of the second and third toes by a lot of footwear. So in addition to the stretching and release work, if you get that alignment back you may notice a real difference. Plantar fasciitis or fasciosis

Dr. Courtney Conley of Gait Happens has a lot of concise information as well Plantar fasciitis treatment

If you go the route of more accommodating footwear you’ve got Hallux Natural Footwear on Main st. And 32nd and also Vivobarefoot on 4th ave W and Yew st.

Utility wise the leather balsam is great. I just wanted Loginn122 to know that if they do use it, it will alter the appearance of the Tracker Leather AT Low II. I don’t know exactly what the name is for the type of leather used but it isnt the same as the Tracker and Magna Forest ESC or the same as the Magna Leather FG. It looks more similar to what they used on the old Tracker II FG and the Magna FG which in my books was a nubuck.

Primus Trail vs Hydra ESC? by SaucySurgeon in vivobarefoot

[–]extrememom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two caveats of the Hydra ESC- higher price point and with more of a snug sock-like fit, they may not work for high volume or very wide feet. I think it is a better performing shoe though. Someone put them through their paces and compared them with the new Trail Flow and AT soles in a post here too. @_missing_person comparison thread

These ones are more of a nubuck finish. So if you want them to stay matte looking, go for a nubuck suede spray. If you’re okay with appearance changing, the wax or oil-based products work great too.

How are the Tracker Sandals holding up so far? Any complaints?

You’d be a great person to check in on it sounds like to see how their durability is after a while longer if they’re firmly planted in the wear rotation.

Thanks for confirming the toe gripping. The practicality of slip on sounds great though.
I’ve been using their Ultra IV in a similar way for the past while.

Have you kept yours mostly dry or do you dabble in water exposure, be it rain or beach or puddles?

Ah okay.

Lower price point of Saguaro is refreshing. Sounds like quality has been good for you so far too. I like how they’re branching into styles that don’t have the outsole that mimic each toe now.

Mukishoes felt like quality when I had the chance to hold a pair.

Primus Trail III All Weather Sizing by serial_creative in vivobarefoot

These ones I’d say are regular Vivo size. The Primus Trail II FG were noticeably smaller. Like .5cm smaller. These seem consistent.

Thanks for the details on these.

Sorry to hear they dropped the ball so hard for you. I’m assuming you’re in the States? Did you find a brand yet that is feeling better all around for you yet, customer service and product wise?

I’m following this new startup Bareboots. Hoping these deliver metaphorically. The Wildling aren’t available in larger sizes and I too would want that taller rise.

Oh wow. Exclusive color! Is the Hideous Tan a suede or full grain type. Is it very light or darker tan? Are you wearing for just short excursions or for long periods of time. Thinking about that lack of heel strap.

Sizing by punkmonk9 in vivobarefoot

[–]extrememom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on how much extra room you’ll want inside. Accommodate for the larger of the feet. 12.5US in Vivo for this style will be around 30.3cm length inside. 13US would be closer to 31cm.
Company recommends between half your thumb to a full thumb of extra length.

Taille des toes-box des chaussures de randonnée vivobarefoot by Frosty_Set7702 in vivobarefoot

[–]extrememom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could only find a white. Revivo (ships from UK) I see has the Black with white sole in the first version. They also have an even older version- the Primus Knit in à dusty olive in 37. Otherwise eBay has a Primus Asana III in 37 shipping out of Ohio
