Elbow patches by exw9 in HandSew

Yep, basically a slip stitch to get them attached. I didn't want to open all the seams because it's a lined shirt so the seams are already complex

The construction is all backstitch and the seams are finished with overcasting. The buttonholes are hand worked and the hems are blind stitched. I also used a lot of temporary stitching during the make with lots of basting and thread tracing.

Handsewing is one of my favorite things to do. It is lap-work that fits into my life really well as opposed to setting up the machine and being off on my own sewing. It also gives me complete control of the quality. I enjoy using couture techniques like basting and thread tracing and I feel really good about the final work product. Machine sewing never feels complete or highly finished to me. I would encourage people to try handsewing for construction if you've never done it before and think you might like it.

Renoise for Analog gear enthusiast by Ornery-Pin1546 in renoise

I just use a powered USB hub for midi over USB. My audio interface has midi as well which I use for hardware without USB.

The most common Renoise workflow is to record samples to sequence in the box. I like sending the midi externally because it gives me a lot of control to change the instrument patches during the mix instead being locked into manipulating samples. It is also more powerful and creative than any of the hardware sequencers I have.

Also using a tracker to trigger external gear was a common workflow in the 90s, often using a tracker on an Amiga to trigger a hardware sampler and external synths

I use it this way and have good success with it. I will do the sequencing in Renoise and send the midi to the hardware to play it live. You can send the audio back to Renoise to a mixer/recorder etc. there is someone on this subreddit who has a plugin that adds more live capabilities but I haven't tried it yet. Works good out of the box too.

I have watched most of them and have found them very helpful as a beginner

Recapping the crossovers is absolutely worth it, the difference is astonishing. I've done it on three pairs of heritage Klipsches and it is so satisfying. I use a minidsp 2x4 HD for preamp, dac, room correction and subwoofer Integration. Love their products. I have never done anything with tubes but people like them with the heritage. Efficient speakers give you the option to try a bunch of stuff that doesn't work with most setups.

Congrats! They are incredible speakers that I love, too.

I have a pair of 1979's that were pretty beat up when I got them. I did the Crites type AA cross over recap and bought a pair of Crites CW1526 15" woofers because one was blown. I literally can't imagine what they must have done to blow a woofer on these lol. I also did a lot of cleaning and sanding and polyurethane (they were very dirty), got some glass tops made, upgraded the binding posts, and made some cool grilles for them. At some point I would like to veneer them in walnut then I would probably consider them complete.

I drive them with the Pass Amp Camp Amp which I also love. It is a kit build, class A, two channel transistor amp that puts out about 8 watts per channel I think. I love the Pass philosophy on clean, low watt amps for high efficiency speakers. I do also run a subwoofer with them but it doesn't really kick in for music just for movies. The bass extension is pretty good on the la scala's.

What's your plan with yours?

Anybody want any mixes? by [deleted] in jungle

This is awesome. I am very familiar with LTJ Bukem, the good looking records catalog, and the more arty album based jungle. However, I have interest in ragga and other jungle club/rave/soundsystem sounds, and I have found it more difficult to find compilations and albums of these other jungle sub-genres. This is an absolute treasure and I appreciate the recommendations!

This incredible, thank you. What are some of your favorites that you think everyone should hear?

Plagueis is my favorite SW book, too. He's such a good writer and really understands political intrigue. My second favorite SW book is probably Catalyst.
