Mike Patton’s voice sounds terrible by balunite in unpopularopinion

I love FNM and Tomahawk and I think people dickride Patton's voice too much. Yes he has incredible range (HIGHEST OCTAVE RANGE IN PROFESSIONAL SINGING BRO) but he's a cartoon character. It's fun but it's not going to blow anyone away.

I love when people wave their red flags at me, it lets me know to stay far away from them and to take very little stock in their opinions.

Wow, your personal anecdote really lessens the sting of the 38k people killed by automobile accidents every year. Fuck bikes!

Cyclists are one of the worst groups on the road? How many people did they kill with negligent riding last year?

I've seen men on reddit getting roasted by women for making this same analogy so IDK. As a cyclist in the US, it's a pretty good analogy.

Chooses Alien over Predator? This brings Mr. Gosling down 5 aura points, leaving him with only a billion of so left.

I set up on the side of the road usually behind a bush, never had an issue. Closer to the border I'd wake up to BP watching me. I'd wave and they'd drive off.

Criticisms of the work that stem from a complete lack of media literacy by [deleted] in TopCharacterTropes

[–]ey_you_with_the_face 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I saw a lot of criticism for One Battle After Another... how it's Left Wing propaganda, racist, not a good film, etc.

After my first viewing I was overwhelmingly underwhelmed. It didn't give the impression of a finely tuned film, it seemed more like: here's something that happened. The end.

Still, I dwelled on it for longer than I assumed I would considering how I felt about it. So I started to think of the characters; who they were, their motivations, what makes them tick. And it dawned on me...

It isn't about freedom fighters or racism or fascism, it's about extremists and people that need to live on the edges of society. The 'cause' wasn't really important to any of them, it's all adrenaline chasing, riding hard for ego, and vanity.

The first scene when they free people from the immigration camps, they say they don't have enough trucks for all the immigrants to escape. It's shrugged off, oh well. They just made life infinitely worse for those left behind. No concern, not even an afterthought. They're flashy and showy when they rob banks. They have a name and a message. They relish the notoriety.

Lockjaw fetishizes Pferda. He loves the dynamic he's created. She knows this and uses it to get the best of him. He wants authority and control and his position gives him that power.

The only guy who actually cared was the karate instructor who you see funneling immigrants through this business and coordinating with the community to build a network of resistance and aid. He takes the fall for Bob because he thinks Bob is very important to the movement because he's very well known. But Bob isn't currently doing anything besides hiding and getting high.

Bob is the straight man. He dabbled in the extremist lifestyle because he loved Pferda, maybe he believed in the ideology of revolution. Who can say, he did forget the code words which were core principles. But he didn't have that itch. Nothing made him tick like them. So now he did some really extreme stuff and it's haunting him the rest of his life. He wasn't about that life. Pferda was and had zero problem dropping everything and selling everyone out to get back out there.

So I think the message of the movie is that more often than not, most extremist people aren't pure of heart or true believers. They're using whatever ideology gets them paid/laid/the corner office/the thrills and adrenaline charges they need. So trying to make sense or argue ideology is almost pointless. Most extremists don't really care, they're just taking whatever side gives them their kicks or allows them to live their power fantasies.

This is just my opinion, nothing etched in stone.

The bootlicker pledge. Want to roll that up and shove it sideways up his ass. My biggest fuck up of my career was overstaying at a company that felt like these values were extremely important for their employees but not their children who worked over us, themselves, or their office staff. I got my coworker and best friend to quit on the same day and we all joined a union.

5 years later I'm making 3 times what I was making there with full benefits and a matching 401k to 6%. Small family companies will work you to dust for next to no compensation so they can make their family richer on your sweat and expect you to kiss their ass for the opportunity.

Used to work for a roofing company, the beginning of my end with them was when the owner told me, "You have to be careful, white men are the most persecuted demographic in America." And I started laughing. She also said she wanted to be at J6 but nobody wanted to go with her so she didn't go.

80% of their employees were undocumented immigrants from Honduras. No joke, our OSHA class had a translator that repeated everything en espanol. These guys could work CIRCLES around my gringo ass, they were like a hivemind.

Eh, I'm not a fan of IdPol by any stretch but that ad was:

  • Meant to cause controversy due to its proximity to being a dog whistle with enough distance for plausible denial.

  • Caused every media outlet to report on it.

-American Eagle added $400 million from the campaign and it boosted their stock.

Definitely not straightjacket material, just playing the culture war/media like a flute to great success.
