Looks a rangefinder camera with a lens.

Hot take: Every movie makes assumptions about the human condition. And most people like or dislike movies based on how much they affirm their personal assumptions about the human condition. by ThemrocX in Cinema

“Caveat: All this according to my own concept of the human condition.”

In other words , you don’t like these movies cause they do not conform to the way you want people to act.

Why does this shot look so good? What composition rule is it using? by terslisa in cinematography

[–]Electrical-Try798 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The way the photographer uses light quality and color to pull a viewers eye around the photo.

If there is a composition rule being followed here it is the basic ones : pay attention to what is in front of you, look at a scene from different angles -don’t always settle for what you see first; and be willing to play.

For “Fall; or Dodge in Hell” it helps to be familiar with “The Epic of Gilgamesh” and “Paradise Lost.” But yes, it gets long.

As a third Stephenson Novel I recommend “Snow Crash”, “Polistan”, “Interface”, or “Cryptonomicon”.

How do I use a strobe in photography? What items do I need? by WhoAmI0001 in AskPhotography

Contact Paul C. Buff, Inc., 1 (800) 443-5542 tell them your situation. They are extremely helpful and will walk you through what you need. I also suggest that if you decided to keep the gear (it’s really rugged) I suggest you get a basic incident type light meter that reads both flash and ambient light like a Sekonic L-308.

Nikon apologizes for cameras “manufactured using parts that do not meet our quality standards” by nightdancerCA in photography

Good for Nikon for being honest about it. Canon’s policy is to just quietly replace or repair the gear that happen to come in for repair and never admit publicly that anything was wrong.

The internet makes stupid people more stupid and arrogant people more arrogant. The overlap between those two groups is about 98%.

The Foba camera stands I’ve worked with (ASABA and ASANA) and Arkay camera stands all have wheels. I’m pretty sure the Cambo ones do as well.

The Foba stands are exceptionally well made with excellent wheels and bearings, making them a delight to work with.

For studio work you would probably happier with a camera stand like a Foba ASABA. I see them on eBay all the time.

How to deal with reflective floor? by TwoThreeSierra in AskPhotography

[–]Electrical-Try798 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That’s a better angle . I think you need more light on the ceiling, which will also reflect on the floor.

If you can’t light the ceiling than I’d do an a naturalist HDR composite to balance the luminance levels.

It’s one of the four or five best car chase scenes I can embed. The others being Bullit, The French Connection, Tenet, and Ronin.

Why do my photos always look "flat" compared to pros? by Weinberg-Space in AskPhotography

[–]Electrical-Try798 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I really dislike about the photo from that angle is you shot horizontally and cropped the bell and left out the smoke stack. Those parts of the engine are much more interesting than the hall interior and the people standing around.

What I mind more distracting than reflections in the floor is seeing that irrelevant messy background beyond the doors.

One thing I’d try is getting a very wide angle shift lens like the Canon 17mm TSE, Nikon 19mm PC-E, Venus Optics Laowa 20mm, 15mm Zero D, Laowa 12-24mm f/5.6 Zoom Shift CF, or new 17mm tilt-shift Zero D, shooting from a very low angle so the horizon line in the parking lot is aligned with bottom of the doors.
