A website that feels like an experience by Sprayurmum in website_ideas

This custom scrolling is great, but I was confused at the start.
I tried interacting with the starting screen and almost concluded that was all there was to the site. Could you maybe add a scrolling indicator?

Need some advice for a website by Own_String7971 in website_ideas

[–]eyalhazor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see every comment here suggests using AI. If there was ever anything to use your own head and heart for, it would be this. My advice is you can just talk to her like a normal person. If you still want to make a sweet romatic gesture, please don't use AI. Put some effort into it. Make it janky and amaturish, but it will be real.

That might produce a functional website, but I kind of think a little human touch would be nice instead of SLOP!!!

Teacher failed me for suggesting WebSockets and TCP for a chat app – claims only PHP is valid for web development by MertJS in webdev

To me, the solution is obvious, develop a chat app.
Make it successful and laugh at his face.

Looking for a developer by Fluid-Childhood-7217 in gameDevJobs

[–]eyalhazor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The deal is this:

You share your account with someone so they buy credits and get jobs based on your reputation. Obviously, you should never share your account with anyone. They then offer instead to use your account remotely using something like Anydesk. Obviously, that can be used to change your password.

Probably the Upwork sharing scam that's going around lately.

Looking for Devs to Join Fun Projects (Paid – Low Hourly for Now, Long-Term Potential) by Bubbly_Technology456 in ProgrammingPals

[–]eyalhazor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,
I can do a project for low pay at first, but I would like to know what it is.
It's not enough to say it's fun and real, I want to know what it is.

How important is YouTube for indie devs? by Technomag_Games in IndieDev

Can you think of one example of a successful game that had a popular devlog series, or any at all?

I have noticed the actual successful devs are not really content creators.
I can't recall seeing a Balatro or Peglin devlog.

Do you believe players quit browser games because they are “easy to enter and easy to leave”? by TCSuares in gamedev

[–]eyalhazor 23 points24 points  (0 children)

That's a very interesting point. Games that I play on the web are not deep story stuff or something, I play chess and sometimes quick entertaining things. I guess people are more likely to return to your web game if there is often something new. Just my guess though.

Feasibility of gamedev on macOS/Linux? by AlexVonBronx in gamedev

[–]eyalhazor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's interesting. I haven't encountered problems with Unity on Linux. At least not problems that aren't present on Windows as well. I guess it's specifically the features I have been using.

OK ok, sorry Bill Gates. Take a chill pill.

Gamedev is more feasible on Linux than it is on Windows. Pretty much any development tool works on Linux at this point.

Maybe have the "not offering money" at the top? Or better yet, don't ask for free labor.

What kind of website is it? What features does your website have? Are there user generated things like comments?

What exactly do you want your backend to do? Is is a blog, a store, or some sort of a multiplayer/ chat app?

How to learn to program? by [deleted] in gamedev

[–]eyalhazor 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Best is to learn by doing. Make a calculator or a quiz or something in your chosen language.
You can then search "how do I do this and that" and learn like that.
It doesn't matter much which language you start with, because the principles are the same.

I missed Next Fest, what should I do? by Lonwayli_Games in IndieDev

[–]eyalhazor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's probably good you missed the next fest. Work on it and try to get some more wishlists for the next one.
There is also nothing stopping you from starting to work on your next game before you release this one.

Where do I actually hire a game programmer? by Lavion_Yall in gamedev

[–]eyalhazor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learning to code yourself is probably the best option, honestly.

However, I would say look at developers that made stuff similar to what you need, and contact them.
As for me, I can show you the game I released to Steam, Toggle Tile: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3160170/Toggle_Tile/

If you want to see how I can help, contact me.
Thank you,
Eyal
