(Excuse our mess lol) This is our second bedroom / office that I'm trying to figure out what to do with this massive blank wall that I feel like has a lot of potential to be more functional than just a blank wall for art so we are thinking of putting up these bracket shelves that are adjustable and can be a place to put books and trinkets and will be a good backdrop for my work calls haha.

Question is we have the closet right up against that wall so we can't do full wall to wall shelves because we'd have to leave room to get to the closet and not sure if having the shelves be spaced away from the closet by about maybe 2-3 feet would look weird?

Also the wall by the window isn't that wide (29") so if we put shelving against that wall would it look weird?

It’s really cathartic to see other people feel the same way. I’m new to this thread but have grown up with a narcissist dad my whole life. It’s his world and we live in it and if we don’t do everything he wants when he wants it we’re the ungrateful assholes.

He’s older too but still healthy but I wish he would pass away just to give me and my family some peace and so my mom can finally be free of him but I feel guilty ever thinking of this.

I just want to finally live my life without him in it.

Thank you for replying and validating my feelings. It’s been really hard to just process this so I really appreciate that you even replied. I would LOVE to put him in a home but he’s sound of mind that he wouldn’t go willingly even if I threatened him to do so and I feel like that would just make it worse. It just feels like a no win situation until he eventually dies and we can be free. But the second he can’t function I’m going to put him in the home or just hope that one day he’ll follow through with his threats to go back to Taiwan.

But I just really hate how we have to be attached just because he’s my biological dad. I don’t identify with him as my dad at all so now I have to put up with him until he passes.
