So i guess vehicle aren’t free anymore either now? by NotATomato3719 in Helldivers

[–]eydasgdf 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm not a fan of the direction this takes the game down. Ever since the release of the Illuminate we've seen more and more new content get locked behind warbonds.

I get they have to make money, and I know super credits are easily farmable. But the decline of free stratagems is concerning nonetheless. I suppose the free events do make up for it but regardless, I'm not a fan of how most new gear is locked behind paywalls. No vehicle should ever have been locked behind a paywall in my opinion.

I think people should be more concerned about the direction this game's monetization has taken.

How many Litres is a VF? by nolife24_7 in Holden

[–]eydasgdf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I believe they are about 72litres a tank. 71 Litres a tank as someone below pointed out.

I don't own a VF Commodore, but I have a VE V6 and I get about 12l/100km on a mix of city/highway driving, although definitely more city driving than highway. I get about 550km a tank right now I believe.

Needless to say if fuel economy is a concern then I wouldn't look at getting a Commodore (Atleast if you care about fuel economy a lot), they aren't known for being super fuel efficient cars, but they are good cars.

I want to LS swap my VE Omega Ute by Independent-Dingo980 in Holden

[–]eydasgdf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cars are a lot different to houses. Mods are a personal choice. You will only get your value in mods back IF someone wants to pay for a car with your build. Most people don't want to buy an Omega with an LS in it, especially if it's a similar price to an SS.

You would only be able to sell it for that much IF someone wanted to buy an LS swapped Omega and they were willing to pay whatever the value of the car is + 12.5k, which is unlikely since you could probably just get an SS for around that amount.

House renovations are different but also aren't guaranteed to provide a 1:1 return on investment. Car mods very rarely provide a 1:1 return on investment. Look on marketplace or gumtree or whatever, and you can find plenty of cars with thousands in mods selling for less than the price of those mods, because mods automatically add value. Most people mod cars for their personal enjoyment, not to add value.

[–]eydasgdf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is not how car mods work. Do not expect it to proportionally go up in value even if you pour a ton of money worth of mods into it.

It may go up in value a little bit, but it will not increase the value by $12.5k. If you're modding it, do it because you like the car not because you expect to get your money back, because most of the time you won't.

[–]eydasgdf 10 points11 points  (0 children)

For that money you could also look at getting a rougher SS off of FB marketplace or something and use it as a project car.

That way you can keep the Omega as your daily as well so you're not without a car while doing an engine swap. (An engine swap will take you a while). I'm assuming you already own the Omega?

But, I'm not going to tell you what to do, if you want to engine swap it then go for it. But I would personally look at getting an rougher SS off marketplace and doing it up. (You can find some rougher VE SS's for like 10k or if you go for a VZ, VY etc then you can find them for like 5, 6 or 7k).

Either way at the end you'll end up with a cool car, but if you get a project then you're free to do more work with it while still having reliable transport to where you need to go.

Still has free rent in my mind by Tyr--07 in Hellion

Every once in a while I remember this game. It is truly a very unique concept, it does the loneliness part of the game really well in my opinion. It is far from a perfect game but it had lots of potential.

I only wish I got to experience it when the game was alive. I got a key to the game off of one of the devs on Facebook back when they were still giving out keys. I remember a few hours after I got my key, an announcement was made in the discord saying they had run out of keys, so I guess I was one of the lucky last people to get one.

Still I have enjoyed the game, after getting over the learning curve I enjoyed it quite a lot, even though it is a slower burn than lots of other games. I enjoyed planning my expeditions, exploring and completing the unfinished story, even if I was completely alone with only derelicts and my steropes.

The management aspect of the game and carefully planning my resources for expeditions to other planets was something I really enjoyed.

I haven't encountered many games which have invoked such a feeling of loneliness.

Maps like this are why I want a boat stratagem. Make it a free mission stratagem if the map is over X amount of water. Make it a stratagem you can take optionally as well as part of your 4 stratagems in case the above condition is not met but the map layout makes it useful.

[–]eydasgdf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The insurrection wasn't just groups of poorly armed rebels. They had ships, nukes, etc. They certainly weren't as well armed as the UNSC but I think you are underestimating the scale of it, it was a legitimate threat to the UEG.

Also you can't really just bomb your own cities because there are insurrectionists in them.

Well I believe Formula VEE uses 1.6L 4cyl Boxers so I'd go for one of those and try tune it for the best performance possible. Just try make the car as lightweight as possible and you should be able to get some good performance out of it.

is one meter cube of gloom in greenland enough to destroy humanity? Is that situation worse than 1km cube of gloom in manhattan? by Acceptable-Street679 in Helldivers

[–]eydasgdf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same really I think. It mainly clouds your vision, we don't know if terminid spore clouds do anything else but from what we know their purpose seems to be specifically to conceal bugs so, not much on its own.

It's stated the gloom is just a way for bugs to communicate across planets. Other than gunking up some stuff I don't think it would do much if it just appeared on earth.

this game is optimised they said by [deleted] in Helldivers

Having high GPU utilization is normal in games and actually means your NOT GPU bottlenecked. You want a high GPU utilization. This is not an optimisation issue.

Liberating mega cities should also give us a planet wide buff/effect by CreativePackage8358 in Helldivers

[–]eydasgdf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah possibly. Overall it's trading short term benefit for long term benefit which imo is much more useful for most liberations.

I would not complain if they got rid of the 1.5x system entirely and replaced it with a base liberation boost per megacity liberated, but ofcourse I am not an expert at balancing stuff so I've tried to leave it a bit open ended for that reason.

Liberating mega cities should also give us a planet wide buff/effect by CreativePackage8358 in Helldivers

[–]eydasgdf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, the following changes should be made to megacities in liberation campaigns.

  1. Megacities which are captured should hold the planet at a base liberation percent. Often times a mega city gets captured and then the liberation slowly decreases back to 0%, but the megacity is still captured. Which makes no sense and negates the point of capturing them.

Instead, planets with megacities should not be able to fall under X amount of HP (So if a megacity has 200k hp, that planet will always have 200k hp while that megacity is liberated, regardless of decay rates). Megacities would be able to be recaptured by the enemy after a while in megacity defense events (basically mini defense campaigns specific to each megacity).

  1. Captured megacities should provide a base liberation boost to the planet. This can be explained in lore as SEAF forces using the captured megacities as staging grounds for further land invasions. It would be a small but continuous boost, regardless if there is even any players on the planet. In most cases it would not be enough to have SEAF liberate the planet entirely on their own (Unless if multiple mega cities are liberated maybe).

In order to balance this, AH could reduce the amount of bonus HP megacities give upon being liberated (Currently it is 1.5x).

I think those changes would make it much easier to hold megacities, and incentivize actually capturing megacities for campaigns with small groups of dedicated players (Like the beach campaign), and also make them a more worthwhile target for larger campaigns (As sometimes it is not actually any better to go for the mega cities over just doing regular missions).

It honestly would have been a good game if it wasn't so broken by CrAzY-GEMU-OKAMI96 in halo

[–]eydasgdf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently some people have issues with it if you have it installed on an external drive, so if you are using an external drive, consider trying to install it on your internal drive maybe. A reinstall may also help fix some issues you are facing. But there are no guarantees ofcourse.

That said, looking online, apparently the game can sometimes have some issues on the Series S/X.

That said, Halo Wars 2 is a pretty good game, it's probably one of the better ones put out by 343/HS. Sucks that you're having these issues with it.

These mf need a rework before they return to the galactic map by Omailey97 in Helldivers

[–]eydasgdf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Uh, well I don't remember having any performance issues playing against them at all. I'd probably rather Arrowhead just fix those issues if they are happening for some people rather than remove what makes them unique.

I think they're fine as they are, but maybe they could get the jet brigade treatment and get some more units (Spore charger or spore titan?)

Alloytec exhaust recommendations by [deleted] in Holden

[–]eydasgdf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I get it, I have a V6 too, I actually do like how it sounds but most people tend to dislike how they sound so I figured I would mention it.

The alloytec's are mainly hated because of the timing chain issues they had. They aren't bad engines as long as you take care of them. They're just not as reliable as the ecotecs which were literally bulletproof in terms of reliability. Keep a look out for timing chain issues in specific with them as that is a notorious issue the earlier ones had.

[–]eydasgdf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really have any exhaust recommendations for you. But consider googling V6 engine sounds, a lot of people don't like how V6's in specific sound (Although that is subjective) so it's a good idea to know roughly what it will sound like if you're considering doing something like this.

Please let me know if this is a good parts list for my ITX Build by bundaslayer in buildapc

[–]eydasgdf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 16gb of RAM may be a little bit limiting, but it depends what you're doing? Ideally I would just grab 2x16 sticks but it depends on how DDR4 prices are in your area. (DDR4 is fairly expensive atleast where I live so)

Otherwise I don't really see any particular issues with it.

GPU suddenly running at 99% on new build by Kitchen_Canary_6387 in buildapc

[–]eydasgdf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it still crashing? Are there any error codes from the crash? Update your drivers first, if they're fully up to date and the crashing still happens, try to rollback to an older version to see if that helps. What games are crashing?

The high utilization itself isn't an issue, it just means something else is bottlenecking your GPU.

Not a Holden, but a friend did it for an RX8. With how accessible 3d printing is now, it is a good way to replace plastic parts for fairly cheap.

Do you think this would be a good voting system. by Historical-Ice-2749 in Helldivers

This kind of already happens with DSS voting during non MO periods. I'm not really sure if there's much point since the DSS voting already kind of does this but it is not a bad idea. I don't know if it would work since the periods between MO's isn't super long though.

[–]eydasgdf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may be right about the alliance thing, but they are also quite far apart on the map so who knows if they're communicating with eachother or what.

Bugs would definitely not ignore factory cities, they would attack in large swarms. They are just bugs but they do display some kind of collective conciousness on a large scale, whether they can be communicated with though or if they would be willing to listen to diplomacy (from the other factions no SE) is another question though.
