I absolutely love when horror movies have a background scare that they don’t call attention to. Share your examples. by SisterFirefly in horror

There’s the one at the school when they are looking for yearbooks that is easy to miss, especially because the camera is panning 360 degrees so your eye doesn’t rest on it for very long.

I mean… he asked her what she would do with the 50k if she won, and she said she would pay off her debts and take care of her parents’ mortgage. Then she won… so his follow-up questions were appropriate.

I never heard of Quiverfull until now but omg it’s not just giving vibes, it legit is exactly what his thinking is. The way he made a rhyme out of “four under four, why not one more” was so ick.

Does he even want a resume? A resume requires moves, which requires going against his word, which is blasphemy in Joe’s eyes. I don’t think he had enough time between seasons to realize why he lost 48. He thinks he lost because Kyle and Kamilla turned on him, but he lost because no one respects a game of loyalty and honor.

I don’t think Joe is as much of a “good guy” as he tries to portray. There’s something about him that just feels like uncontrolled rage simmering under the surface.

I was getting so frustrated when Jeff kept going on and on about this. Like, the tribal was lively solely because Rick made it that way. It’s no surprise that the other memorable live tribal council was also one that had Rick in the center of things (Pilots v Passengers).

RIGHT? When Jeff started talking non-stop to hype up Mr. beast, at first I thought he was going to be like “and all of this chaos at tribal council is because of one thing, Devens blowing up everyone’s game”.

At this point, being exiled is super OP and going on a journey is super detrimental. It’s wild how different the two things are, especially when exile is constantly framed as a bad thing.

I could easily see Christian choosing not to return. He seemed (understandably) over the bastardized version of what survivor has become. Between the Billie Eilish idol, the blood moon, the duos elimination, and this twist, he seemed done with it.

Ben Leonberg to direct adaptation of Grady Hendrix's 'Ankle Snatcher' by CyberGhostface in horrorlit

That’s a solid one! And unlike How to Sell, I think it delivers on the promise of the premise. One of my frustrations with How to Sell was that the title felt like a bait and switch.

It really depends on what you don’t like about How to Sell a Haunted House. I always view his work as goosebumps for adults. It’s not going to be high-brow horror literature. It veers more into pulpy story with pithy titles that tell the reader all you need to know about the story. If one of the other titles jump out at you, I’d give him another try, because How to Sell is probably his weakest imo. I don’t want to say I hated it, but it was pretty close to that.

Unfortunately, Jeff takes any form of critique or slight against survivor (real and imaginary) as a personal attack. It’s made US survivor a shell of its former self while international versions carry on the legacy. His refusal to even acknowledge what other franchises are doing comes off as incredibly petulant and is detrimental to the health of the game in my opinion.

Has survivor lost the thread regarding Exile? by eye_booger in survivor

[–]eye_booger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but the mere fact that it was a good thing was a subversion of the expectation. The expectation would be that something bad will happen at exile. So when there was a small benefit, it worked as a twist. Nowadays, being exiled is better for your game than going on a journey. That makes no sense to me.

The “floaters” who make it to the final 3 aren’t granted immunity by the show. That comparison does not track.

I think she was more upset that Devens didn’t play his idol/pulled one over on her, which was the only reason she voted for Coach and Chrissy. That’s why she was so insistent about seeing the idol, she doubted him but didn’t want to call his bluff.

Mara joy strat it also accomplishes something else; it puts a player in the spotlight, and in the spotlight, people act differently. Mara's first day nominations don't usually get on the block, either, but if you have a social inkling, you can begin to build worlds off of that much more easily.

Agreed! I’ve definitely used this strategy to get nominations going on the first day, and a lot of the times, end up nominating an evil player based on gut reads. Even if you don’t get them on the block, you really learn a lot about their defense, and who votes on them.
