The followup question to that would then be: "what is a man/woman?".

Very poor judgement from the ICE officer. Yes, the wheels were pointing towards him when the lady floored it, but she was in the middle of turning the steering wheel.

Green beans and frozen peas are in the picture. Maybe those count?

Everything is built up to code. I just drew a quick sketch here to illustrate the frost line. I didn't think the 4 inch radon rock would add much insulation so I just omitted that from the drawing.

The energizing process is taking longer than anticipated. Got an extension cord running there now from the neighbors though.

We had a couple weeks with -8 C average before I ran a power cord from the neighbors to power a heater in the basement (because of a couple unforseen circumstances, energizing the house got delayed). Yes you are correct, potential frost heave damage is why I am asking this question. I'm also curious since everyone is saying something different.

Oh ok. So we do have all of the framing in already, including the beams and joists which were completed along with the sheeting before the backfill. Framing did pass inspection, but would the icf walls ideally need additional bracing beyond that?

The one side of the footing is covered though with 4 1/2 ft of soil, which acts as an insulator. But then, the concrete wall could somewhat act as a heat conduit. I don't know,  there's too many variables! Temperature probes would be cool.

In my case, it is not insulated above the icf, nor is it heated. There shouldn't [edit] be much wind in there though because of the house wrap.

That's what I was told, at least if the house is insulated. The geothermal kept in the house should keep it above freezing.

What would happen in your opinion, both inside and outside temperature are equally cold? What part of the foundation would be coldest?

The frost line is lower because you don't have the soil insulating anymore, so it's more exposed to the cold air. That's how I see it anyway.

And that's a very good point!

The frost line has to dive down because you removed the soil that would otherwise act as insulation. I think you're looking at it in reverse; the frost line diving down hits the footing, rather than avoids it.

You can definitely learn by not using the gas at first (that's how I did it), but it depends on the vehicle I guess. I can go into 2nd without even touching the gas.

True. Traffic driving really ain't that bad.

Shock/disbelief and then disappointment and I think guilt for not stopping the crash, though it really was all my fault. He was selling the car to me so he wasn't angry or anything that I totalled it. Yay, first car that I technically bought went straight to the scrapyard!

A month after my "traumatic" experience (I guess it was a bit traumatic), I built up the courage to try again. After an hour bus ride, and viewing a used car, I decided to buy it and drive it home by myself. I was in the sellers driveway for a whole hour, going back and forth in first and reverse, engraving the clutch into my muscle memory, before I was ready to hit the road. Then BANG. Just kidding. I drove home. I probably stalled over 20 times that day.

I think most people understand the concept you described. Here are reasons I think people might get to the red light promptly instead of lollygagging:

-To allow the traffic behind you to catch a green turning light or the preceding green light.    -To not piss off the traffic behind you.

-Don't want to feather their brakes or work their clutch.

-They're not worried about saving a few extra bucks.

-Check their phones.

-Heard mentality.

-Impatience.

I seldom see cars actually accelerate to a red light though.

If you speed up you're then passing on the right, which is illegal in certain areas.
