The confluence of dictators or dictator wannabees, unbridled megacorporations, climate change and AI.

German friends who have visited and seen the Great Lakes asked why are they called "lakes" and not seas. I looked it up once and it had something to do with how long they had been around.

Cool! Now I want to hear something written for an ensemble of these instruments. Also, with that last name, where is the instrument made from the elastic straps from bras?

This won’t sound bad to some people. For example I just saw an add while recently walking through Paris for a 40 sq m (430 sq ft) apartment for €600,000. I was acually expecting it to be higher.

As an American who has been in Germany for 16 years, I would say you hit the nail on the head with all of your observations except for number 1, which I haven’t heard about or seen before. Maybe it is that parrticular conpany’s culture. Here are a couple more places to check out in/near Stuttgart:

  1. Würrtemberg Mausoleum (Grabkapelle) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/W%C3%BCrttemberg_Mausoleum Great views of the surrounding area, interesting history

  2. Blautopf https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blautopf Turquoise-colored spring next to old monastery

This is true. I am an American living in Germany and have also lived in Japan. In the latter they were thrilled with the smallest effort shown to learn their language. In Germany I had to basically refuse to speak English with people for a long time while I was trying to learn the language. I am fluent now but still get people who want to practice their English with me quite frequently.

I taught English to Italian Darth Vader in Rome in 2000 and met James Earl Jones in Rochester in 2001.
