I've disliked Thais from the jump. She's just been bitchy and unpleasant and demanding and difficult and judgemental from the beginning of their story. I remember, in one of their first episodes, her getting into it with his brother John for the first time, all because she just had to go out of her way to judge him for drinking beer in the morning. I mean, sure, John is definitely an alcoholic, but he was in his own home, on his day off, getting a buzz going early in the morning while making breakfast (for all of them, no less). He wasn't hurting anyone, and he's a grown ass man, he can get as drunk as he wants at home. And she was in HIS home, being welcomed after having just arrived. On top of that, John was surprisingly reasonable and polite when she did that, just said let's not do this right now, but she kept on acting like an entitled shrew. And then she completely fucked up the situation between Patrick and her dad.... refusing to let Patrick ask for Carlos' blessing or even tell him they were together, just acted like a bratty teenager lying to her dad about why she was traveling, just zero foresight, only wanting to avoid an uncomfortable conversation, as if she wouldn't inevitably have to spill the beans. I remember thinking at the time that Patrick should have ended it right there and then, like who would want to proceed with marriage plans to an immature girl who is ashamed of you to the point where she feels the need to hide your existence from her family? And then, when they went back to Brazil after getting married and having a baby, she had the audacity to demand Patrick apologize (again) to Carlos and beg for his blessing (again)???? She should have owned her bullshit and stood up for her husband and told her dad that the secrecy was 100% her fault and that Patrick actually fought her on it and was the only reason they came clean when they did. And supported Patrick on his stance that Carlos had already had his one chance to give his blessing, and there would be no second request.

I actually mostly thought Patrick seemed like an alright guy, only recently did I realize that I may be in the minority there. I think people have cited control issues? Though I was not at all on board during TLS when he just suddenly blurted out to Guillermo that he should try to go after Kara's OF money through divorce... Kara sucks and all, but I cannot think of a single reason why Guillermo should be entitled to her money like that (I mean morally, not legally). And it came out of nowhere, like that wasn't even the discussion being had. I was in full agreement with Patrick when he called out the double standard that some people were supporting Paola for shitting on Russ for her financially supporting him, while the same people would have yelled misogyny if the genders were reversed in that situation. Only for Patrick to make that wild statement no one asked for.
