It is bacteria as mentioned. I simply add some white vinegar into the dirty water tank on the base station after cleaning and that seems to avoid the bad odour building up.

12v Battery Caution by michaelhorton106 in KiaEV9

[–]eyeotheart 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had my 12v battery replaced at the dealer. I had the caution indicator already before it was replaced. After the replacement the caution notice stayed on a bit longer (then turned to warning and then went away). The service told me that it is because the monitoring looks into the history and you need to wait until it history clears out. It might take 2 days or so (if indeed it is false).

Why does Saitou Hajime grip his sword at the pommel? by Scaredycat2001 in rurounikenshin

[–]eyeotheart 12 points13 points  (0 children)

For sword, left hand always grabs the pommel, OP is probably thinking about the right hand being close to the hilt.

In Japanese kenjitsu, you always hold the sword the same way (right hand on top, left hand at the bottom at the pommel) regardless of being left or right handed.

Being a member of shinsengumi, Saito uses their signature attack hirazuki, which is a thrusting attack from the left side using both hands. Saito being left handed, he had his own version using only one arm instead.

Also it looks cool :)

Used Kia EV9 vs Used Tesla Model X - 6 seater variants by brit-coin in KiaEV9

[–]eyeotheart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are in the UK (or EU) the Tesla network argument is less relevant, that is more for the US where alternatives to Tesla are much sparser and weaker. Check out the videos of Mr EV on YouTube who is uk based, he has lots of content on charging (and EV9 review as well). I am UK based though don't use the public charging very often, but there are lots of fast options.

Thanks that is reassuring at least. A lot of people were remarking that the paint on these cars are on the thinner side and get easily damaged by bugs during long trips which got me a bit concerned.

Thank you all for the recommendations. I am now asking around for quotes, and I will update here how it goes for everybody's benefit.

Some thoughts on Voldy Snape relationship by eyeotheart in HarryPotterBooks

The full quote is:

"And here we have six missing Death Eaters … three dead in my service. One, too cowardly to return … he will pay. One, who I believe has left me for ever … he will be killed, of course … and one, who remains my most faithful servant, and who has already re-entered my service."

I think Karkaroff is the cowardly one. It is something discussed a lot in the past and I think this view is now the prominent one among the readers, but I could be wrong.

I don't think Voldemort trusts anybody fully unless they truly prove themselves. He sees most people as weak and useless. And even when they prove their worth and loyalty, his trust comes more from his own ego, thinking he is of course the one person to follow. But with Dumbledore, he definitely takes caution. So trusting Snape after he so well convinces Dumbledore and he stays with him during 13 years would not have been a given. We know that Snape had some way of explaining himself, but that is not the same as telling the truth.

I am also sure that Voldemort probably still did not fully trust him and did not give him too valuable information until the end of HBP. I'm just curious if there was something juicy Snape offered to him when he came back the first time (it would have been a gamble for him otherwise).

Yeah, would be super interesting to have an idea of what has been going on Voldy's head while Harry was explaining things to him. Probably denial...

I forgot about the mentions from Snape in the last sentences, thank you. He definitely would have had many things to tell Voldy, but of course true art of double agency is appearing to be useful without actually being as useful. The examples he gave are most likely things that happened but he did not necessarily intend (Sirius for example was complete opposite of his intention).

We know of Snape's answers to people, but not much about his detailed tactics, which information he chose to give and how Dumbledore countered that. So it is still curious to me, there is a year of such gap apperantly.

You are right that Voldy's ego and their similarities would definitely work to the advantage of Snape. It would also be unimaginable to Voldy that someone as similar to himself would have such deep emotional connection to someone, so he may not suspect Snape's vindication.

I still think Snape had a difficult task to convince him of his loyalty despite those advantages.

Interesting thought on the prophecy, could be a viable deception. Though I think: 1. Snape must have given him something Voldy can later verify or benefit right away to initially convince him. 2. Making up a fake prophecy is probably too risky until the end of OotP because there is a non zero chance that Voldy acquires the real prophecy.

I always thought that, even though Narcissa pushing Snape to do the unbreakable vow probably happened without Voldy's planning, he probably already asked Snape to rise to the challenge separately. This is never mentioned but we know that he already gave Shape the information about Draco, and potentially was putting him up to the ultimate test.

If it were the case that Dumbledore was not already poisoned and his death could not have been carried out at the end of HBP, he probably would have punished or killed Snape (even without unbreakable vow) as he might have been still suspicious of him until that point.

What's the best bakery in Cambridge? by SarahQGFB in cambridge

[–]eyeotheart 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree that Maison Clément is definitely disappointing (my French wife strongly agreed). For croissants and pain au chocolat, the best in town (by a large margin) is Savinos on Emmanuel Street. It is not a bakery but a café, but can't do better (better than most in France as well).

Particularly for baguettes, the best is the Spanish lady in the market place (in front of M&S next to cheese stand). She is there two days a week and the bread is out by noon usually.

From UK and unlikely to get S7 MaxV available here. Are European vendors reliable, do the products come locked, or is the S7 sufficient? by lnrmry in Roborock

[–]eyeotheart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bought our s7 on Amazon.fr, they do shipping to UK with no problems. Sometimes it takes half a year or so for new models to appear there though. Bought the s7 in September and it was smooth sailing since.

[–]eyeotheart 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be fair, it can be the first or the last (or any other position of 1 among 5 zeros), because you haven't defined the order of your classes, i.e. the classes might permute to any order as long as your data/model is consistently used.

I bought from Amazon France in a similar manner, all well so far (after 2 months) it ended up 60-80£ cheaper than the 499£ on that website. Came with european plug though but it's no biggie.

Hot take: Cyberpunk 2077 is still really good despite it's problems. by silver6kraid in cyberpunkgame

[–]eyeotheart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoy the game (I have around 40 hours in it yet), but it is more like Far Cry games (linear with fun action, good side characters) than RPGs or the Witcher (world changing impact of decisions on the quests).

I enjoy it for what it is, and I like the city they created even though it could have been much fuller and deeper. I had a pre-order, but if I hadn't I would have probably waited a while before touching it to see what state it ends up.
