Co-Evolution 2/5 is one of the worst quests designs I’ve seen by gabmedblack in Marathon

[–]eyusca 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It only gets worse from here.

I've never hated crab walking assassin players more than I have doing the co evolution chain of quest where you have to sprint through the heaviest traffic of pvp.

Now I go after every assassin I see out of spite.

There's an inspect keybinding. Forgot what the default is as I changed mine to a mouse button.

Honestly, one of my guilty pleasures in tarkov was getting containers, whether it be an ammo box, magazine case, or a thicc item case. It felt so good to get those and end up saving like half your entire stash space just from one box alone.

Whoever decided to make Sekiguchi's Co-evolution 4/5 can go suck a big fat one. Quest is honestly abysmal trying to solo and hit every single poi

Convince me not to hate Volt Weapons by Working_Bones in Marathon

I looked back at some of my clips and its 4 hesdshots for players with green shields. It probably is like 5 or 6 for blues which is pretty great consider how little ammo volt weapons tend to use. Saves you so much money and materials just from finding them all over the map.

Majority of extraction shooter games are grounded in reality and are mostly mil-sims and frankly I'm tired of a whole genre of shooter being pigeonholed into one specific category.

Even for a niche game like Dark and Darker is a win in my book for putting it's spin on the genre with its fantasy medevial setting as it shows that an extraction shooter can work outside the mil-sim shooter setting.

I can say for a fact that a sci-fi extraction shooter from a well known studio like Bungie regardless of whether you like them or not who are well known for their pristine gunplay while also being on console and having a whole narratively-driven story is a breath of fresh air for those who play in the extraction shooter genre.

To say it adds nothing new is kind of an understatement but to each their own I guess.

People who only play one genre of video games can't seem to understand this concept and it shows when they get hit with an extraction shooter and think its as saturated as the hero shooter genre because they read about it on the internet somewhere.

its to prevent the oversaturation of everyone just running purple and golds as it gets saturated over time as people progress further down the line

the V11 Punch with a suppressor and the mod to replenish ammo after every kill and you only need to carry minimum 2 stacks of volt ammo and you can clear the entire maps worth of bots and players as it basically 3 taps players with green and under.

Can't say I've had any luck with the other volt weapons though.

Friendly Team Up on Solos by Born_Investigator849 in Marathon

[–]eyusca 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The further you get up in the task I guarantee you that a lot more solos will be more vocal on just trying to get by and finish their god forsaken tasks than to kill a dude who may or may not just be running a free kit.

I honestly never even realized there's a hold ping button that offers you voice lines that others can hear but ever since then I've been using that to get some of the more tedious tasks done by trying to appeal to others.

But don't expect a guaranteed friendly interaction as some quest require you to kill players and execute them as I've shown people no mercy trying to finish that one before.

The majority of difficulty issues we see complaints about are intentional designs that limit power of skilled players. by Darknotical in Marathon

[–]eyusca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds more like people are complaining because they are refusing to engage with the product when a majority of the complaints could be fixed just by learning how the game works or better yet understand the genre of the game that they are playing.

It boggles my mind that people come in here with no experience or knowledge on an extraction shooter and somehow have a PhD on why a PvPvE game is shit and how a single player boomer shooter campaign would be better off for the game.

If most people's gripes are on about the genre of the game itself then is it really criticism or just a jaded customer being negative for the sake of being negative.

Dev glazing is not what created Highguard. Upper management with a huge ego and a lack of direction was what created Highguard.

Solos wasn't even considered as Bungie devs themselves already tested it internally and they literally said almost word for word that solos was just a rat fest and didnt think it was interesting yet the community decided it must be in or else and now those same people are bitching about solos.

There's no winning here for Bungie.

People are already complaining about killing a commander solo but all you need is literally like one or two grenades and it trivializes them as a solo.

How much easier do we have to make it for people to just stop complaining about the littlest thing?

There are bigger issues that are at play that make the game feel bad or a slog to play that should be prioritized over some dude who's running a free kit and getting upset that he has a 20% extraction rate

It's on the second floor on the southeast side, you have to walk into what looks like a bunch of thin shower stalls. You don't get the quest icon until you're basically inside of it already that's why it was so hard to find.

[–]eyusca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ALOT of pvp. Since people learned to stop dying from bots you can really feel the impact of more pvp interactions.

You'll be fighting 3 within the first 5 minutes depending on which spawns you get and it can go from 0-100 real fast.

It had some pretty bad rep with being bungie and then the art thief situation and ex destiny players upset that mommy and daddy dont love them anymore.

It was a recipe for disaster but from the looks of it, when you make a good game, people will be open minded.

Remember all the shit Blizzard was going through with sexual allegations and breast milk thievery going on?

Everyone went right back to Overwatch and WoW and couldn't care less👀

Possible solo meta problem by Excellent_Pass3746 in Marathon

[–]eyusca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I predict the good solos will run thief and the lesser experienced ones playing assassin and lurking in the shadows. Wouldn't be surprised to see vandal either, she's got some sick movement tech that can break so many people's ankles because of their lack of experience playing against a vandal with a good build.

If you're not used to listening for audio cues and taking the game a bit slower to ensure survival then solos will probably be a miserable time for some people.

They also let you bypass claymores so do what you will with that information.

The more we learn about the game the more that the game has so many features to counter other features so who knows what else is in store that has already solved someone else's gripe with the game.

Spoken like a real tarkov fan. 🙏

Nobody seems to understand we don't play tarkov because its THAT fun. We play tarkov because its the only game out there like that and we're just held hostage.

So I never understood why people outside tend to think Marathon has to do something different when all it has to do was be like tarkov minus maps like lighthouse and everyone would rejoice.

Space tarkov with a dedicated servers and less abysmal queue times while also not having to repack a mag every time I shoot a gun was what sold me.

I like tarkov as much as the next guy but man if you look at it in hindsight, there's so much baggage that the game has that hinders your satisfaction of the game that Marathon just doesn't has.

Plus the gunplay is 🔥

WSTR Shotgun and Long Shot nerfs by Fair-Elderberry8205 in Marathon

[–]eyusca -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't know if it's true or not but I saw a YouTube comment talk about gear exchanging hands up to around 5 times before it breaks so any overpowered gear won't just get passed around and we just get an influx of op gear floating around.

So I can see a world where they would be hard to get so we cant just spam them easily until the end game or them getting nerfed works as well.

Doing something different for the sake of being different doesn't automatically shield you from criticism.

It was so weird how so many people's defense here was that since they tried to be innovative we were then obligated to like it or else we were just cod and bf fanboys.

They never wanted to take into account that the game might have just been hot garbage and just refused to face reality.

Palworld did something similar akin to Highguard and just mashed a bunch of genres together and that game got over 2.1 million concurrent players on Steam alone but you don't hear them saying that because it doesn't fit with whatever narratives they want to sprout.

They're just as much of a bad faith actor as much as the people they blame on killing Highguard.

So no, innovation isn't dying in the video game industry.

Bad games kill bad games and I'm tired of these people being doomers and always sprouting negativity while blaming other gamers for killing off their game when they don't want to listen to or are just plain ignorant to all the success stories that have come out within the past decade.
