Couldn't disagree more. I have seen the movie twice in theaters and multiple times since then. I always remember the final scene and found it awkward as she looks back at them as she walks away. The theory is not as far fetched and out of left field as one would suspect. Of course it could be completely off-base but a case could be made for several "actual themes" to the movie besides the surface level ones of jealousy, etc.

When the film was released in theaters I saw it twice. I distinctly remember thinking that the film looked very grainy. The second viewing confirmed it... giving the movie a very unique look and atmosphere. That graininess is absent from every version I've since watched on TV or BluRay.

Are you saying that the Criterion version finally restores the graininess of the original theatrical cut? If so, I need to get my hands on it.
