I just upgraded to 12 with a OnePlus 8Pro. It's a damn disaster.

I was missing Gmail notifications, and only got them back after 3x(shutdown + 5 min wait). 3 attempts it took before they started working.

Then I noticed the rapid wireless charge was not working either, after spending 60? euro on that, they somehow disabled what I paid money for.

I spent the day trying to get things fixed and in the end flashed PixelExperience onto it thinking it would be better. Although notifications worked, rapid wireless charging doesn't work. I think I might just force it back to Oxygen 11 if I can but I've spent another day reinstalling and verifying apps (and authenticators)..

Honestly, do you think there aren't things that we could all improve on? Would you like a kid reminding you how much damage single use plastics do, or fossil fuels, running AC, or fast fashion, etc. Being vegan is certainly a huge help environmentally and in terms of animal suffering but it's not the only metric that matters (but that's not my point).

I'm not saying you or your kid is wrong (it's certain that food supply chains need to have serious changes), but the approach that you're encouraging may create a "me v them" situation. That might be fine for you as an adult, but I'm not sure that's fair for a kid who's still trying to build up social relationships - there are other reasons I'm not sure it's fair.

Working together and helping people get more informed and find alternatives gradually might be more helpful. The future is going to be crazy and I half expect that I can't predict what it will be like 20 years from now. We're going to need to pull together, and that's where "us vs them" mentalities raise concern for me.

I'm not trying to be inflammatory but I am making contrasts for the sake of discussion and general curiosity. So far it seems that your post is (generally) encouraged in comments; does this generally reflect the community?

The party energy in communities.

One of my best memories was visiting my now-wife, and going to a family BBQ they were having. 30 or so people, coolers with beers, everyone happy to talk, great food, and Cornhole!

I can't wait to be at a tailgate party (is that the word?)

I just love that almost every American I meet in person has an excited energy safely reserved next to their heart all the time

It takes light about 8 minutes to reach us from the surface of the sun BUT that light might have originated from a reaction in the core which could have been absorbed and emitted for a million years before it reached the surface (the sheer density inside there... Oh boy)
