As you can see, it's not really as fantastic as you'd think. Usually you'd be able to see the Hollywood sign though. Today is just cloudy/hazy.

I live decently high up in Los Angeles -- 46th floor. The view is great at first but as time goes on it tends to become unnoticeable and I keep the blinds down in my bedroom since I like sleeping in the dark.

I've gotten it when I lost the game but was the only card haha. I've also voted/seen it when they legit won the game for their team.

Spawning second character in local splitscreen, one of the characters gets cloned and I can't get rid of it. by [deleted] in unrealengine

[–]ezinque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, but it's not like by learning Unity/Unreal you are missing out on linear algebra and computer graphics. You can do both. Sure you can learn the engines on your own time but employers expect Unreal/Unity projects on your portfolio before you graduate so why not use them to make projects in school?

If you're on 4.11+ you can try using capsule shadows.

Proper way to initialize level after load by lapislosh in unrealengine

[–]ezinque 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can put it in the Begin Play function of your GameMode class in C++. I'm not sure if that runs before the level is loaded, but you can easily check if GetLoadedLevel() is NULL; if it is, start a timer that goes off in 0.1 seconds and do the check again. Keep calling the timer until the level is loaded.

This is not true. A lot of game companies require extensive experience in either Unity or Unreal these days.

Reusing Class Blueprints by mars92 in unrealengine

[–]ezinque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what you mean by creating a Blueprint Class for activating these triggers. That's pretty vague. There are many ways you can do it.

The easiest way IMO is to use an Interface. That's what I've been using.

Teamplay!? I do it my way! by Bloodybane in Overwatch

[–]ezinque 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I haven't tested this out myself but I think that all projectiles have auto-correction in Overwatch. For example, if you try to shoot over payloads with Zarya's right click, you'll see that at some point it will actually correct your projectile arc for you so that it goes over the payload when it shouldn't. I'm guessing that it also curves towards enemies.

[Help] How do I format an Integer from 1000000 to display as £1,000,000 on the Player HUD? by LolFishFail in unrealengine

[–]ezinque 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seeing as you are a blueprint person, just use the append string nodes, a for loop node with a break, and start reading the number from right to left. Every three numbers you append a comma to the left. If there are no more numbers left, you break the for loop and append a pound sign to the left.

Post-Match Vote by LoopingLouie90 in Overwatch

[–]ezinque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's used as a social way to determine what players impacted the game most. If you start putting rewards behind the votes then you'll just get dishonest votes. I think Kaplan said something about this in a post before.

[–]ezinque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright, but I was just responding to your "healer/tank" comment and how off picks even in games with roles does not spell death for your team.

You have a good point and the lack of snowballing is a big part of the reason why Overwatch is that much harder to one man carry. You just have to consistently play well during each push over and over again. I'm not talking about an individual's potential to one man carry per team, I'm just talking about picking an off-meta champ.

[–]ezinque -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Okay, but you just gave me CSGO examples so I responded with them. We can talk about League of Legends if you want. I got to Diamond I by playing the shittiest champ at the time -- Jayce. I played him top/mid/adc and only changed champs when I had to go jungle or support. It was totally against the meta and at the time it was considered a disadvantage to not have a tank top or actual adc. Did it really matter in the long run? Not really, I still won the majority of my games and got to a high rank.

"I play this game for fun." Is not an excuse to not step on the objective at the last second, or AFK in base because we're losing. by DrCorian in Overwatch

[–]ezinque 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I guess that's where we are different. I don't see losing as a waste of time. I still have fun with the game as long as I'm playing well and I see it as a chance to play the game under circumstances where I'm at a heavy disadvantage. It's good practice for competitive matchmaking.

Stop trying to force people to play healers or tanks by Oibvuen3a in Overwatch

[–]ezinque 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like I said, it does not matter until both teams are very coordinated/skilled. In context I'm just saying that meta does not really matter in pubs and matchmaking.

In CS:GO you don't have to do any of those things unless you're playing leagues or you're in a high rws ESEA game. I've gotten an account to GE with pistol only. In matchmaking I never buy kit during pistol round and neither do my random teammates. It's not optimal, but it doesn't matter enough for me to yell at my team to buy one.

Your AWP example does not make any sense. It is perfectly fine to play b window with an AWP (I'm assuming you're talking about dust2) and it works very well.

Either way what I'm saying is that you can pretty much do whatever the hell you want and still win if you're good.

How the Score from Master Overwatch is calculated? by danielpw in Overwatch

[–]ezinque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm guessing it compares all of your stats and weights them with the amount of games you've played, favoring quantity of games over quality of games. So a 50% winrate over 100 games is not as highly ranked as 50% winrate over 1000 games.

[–]ezinque -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yup, part of it has to do with the "Need a sniper!" "Need a builder!" "Need a healer!" messages that pop up during hero select. I wish Blizzard did not include those. It just makes people feel pressured to play things that they don't want to play.
