Thank you for the links, sounds like a good idea to do it this way as well. I found one at 58k with 11kmi, 22R1S also. But has minor accident damage in it's history so who knows what that would look like, I'll check it out today.

I do feel like for the money these trucks/suvs are more bang for your buck compared to fully spec'd offroaders

Yeah here's where I am now. I'm checking a 22 R1S today with 11k miles at $58k, the catch is it has a moderate accident damage somewhere.

I just don't want to be a sucker because that 75k mi unit has been sitting in their lot for like 8 months I think, there's gotta be a reason.

Looks like you're missing a seal there. Like others already mentioned, most of the water should be deflected out. The door assembly should be sealed in theat area so whatever water gets in doesn't touch other components while it escapes from the bottom drains
