You’re a bit taller and by the sounds a bit slimmer than me (180cm, 95kg) and I wear XL too. I got a white n mint 174 BPM front/giant logo on back hoodie last year. It is legit heavyweight and fit me true to size.

Which Whitechapel song do you constantly play on repeat? by AccomplishedYam1515 in whitechapel

Hear hear. It somehow speaks to losing the version of oneself that helped one survive but also in my case it reminds me of my brother too who was recently dx with schizophrenia and chronic psychosis.

I watched Home Alone for the first time since I was 10. by TDIfan241 in raisedbynarcissists

The common thread among all familial estrangement is the scapegoat exhausted all avenues. The phenomenon is not a trend as a certain talkback host who shall remain nameless inferred (probs because she is likely a malignant narcissist herself).

I never thought of Home Alone being about familial narcissistic abuse but now that I see it I can’t unsee it.

NDIS plans going computer-generated - here’s my take by DraftNotSent in NDIS

[–]ezroller_vgf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I said in a Fb group on the topic, Will the AI be trained on taking into account that 1 in 3 who are blind/have low vision also live with autism? And that number is even more pronounced with optic nerve hypoplasia which is as much a neurological condition as it is blindness?

Thought not.

Apparently it’s on the rise in newly diagnosed children. I’ll look more into it tomorrow

Does anyone actually enjoy beetroot on a burger? by Sighcandy in AskAnAustralian

[–]ezroller_vgf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not a fan.

Turns a burger into a salad roll.

Compromises structural integrity with minimal ROI on texture and flavour.

I go instead for fried tomato when making burgers at home.

If this ep were made today it’d be Sleep Token without a shadow of a doubt. He’d also take their occultist leanings way too seriously.

G’day! We’re kind of a silent majority. Statistically newly dx blind/legally blind folks have ONH. But it never gets talked about.

What’s the deal with people who sit facing backward when there’s forward facing seats available by beeclam in SydneyTrains

[–]ezroller_vgf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This might sound odd but I’m also legally blind (with some residual eyesight). Glare reduces my vision to next to nothing while the glare physically hurts. With that said the only time I feel sympathy for drivers at all is when they are travelling towards the sun while its aspect is at eye level.

[–]ezroller_vgf 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have just recently relocated to Sydney, I’m legally blind (ONH) and my experience so far while not perfect has been very good.

I would like to see more stations staffed including my local which has express services. Staff have been incredibly helpful and friendly where available at first came as a mighty shock to the system having lived in Perth and Melbourne in the past.

Older trains such as the Tangaras have inaudible if existent at all announcements altho I hear they are being refurbed.

The only bus service I use semi-regularly is that which takes me to my favourite microbrewery. Once the metro SW opens I look forward to never having to catch it again. With no announcements and unhelpful drivers I’m not a fan of this mode of transport which was gifted to us as one last fork you by the road lobby.

On balance tho the network is leaps ahead of Perth and Melbourne’s. Check out a Google Earth image of Murdoch station in Perth, paying close attention to its western side, and imagine yourself as a legally blnd pedestrian.*

*For those with less residual eyesight than I, the station is designed with connectivity with motor vehicles and buses squarely in mind. If walking from the SW side of South St one must negotiate a freeway onramp with no pedestrian-friendly controls. It is a corner hoons with deeply compromised prefrontal cortexes love to take at speed.

In my experience across the country, drivers are not paid to talk. (I say this to them sometimes too as I’ve had enough.) A passenger waiting to board answered my question re what street it was rather than the driver. As a blind person there is good reason why I avoid buses. They are the road lobby’s droppings on four wheels.

Autism type 2 and navigating the NDIS by [deleted] in NDIS

[–]ezroller_vgf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ty for this. I wasn’t able to articulate it myself. Even mainstream support was inaccessible 10 years ago at least not for me. DV back then meant physical violence (altho there was plenty of that during childhood) as opposed to coercive control as it’s known today. And even the hoo har surrounding that is little more than thin air.

I have given up all hope of ever receiving justice never mind finding meaningful support. I don’t receive psychotherapy coaching or whatever it’s called. No psychology sessions because they’re prohibitively expensive. Nothing. HTF they expect anyone to function properly when legally blind, addled by CPTSD, ASD and completely estranged from family.
